Jennifer Aniston, who hasn’t had a hit since she starred alongside Vince Vaughn in The Break-Up, is in final talks to take on a role in He’s Just Not That Into You. The ensemble comedy is already getting a ton of attention, and shooting hasn’t even started. Aniston’s character is a woman in a long-term relationship who can’t get her boyfriend to commit to anything more serious. The movie is about modern relationships, based on the best-selling book, and already has huge names attached to it. Drew Barrymore will produce and star in the flick, which includes a whole host of Hollywood heavyweights already.

Cast Set for ‘Watchmen’ Movie
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Drama, Period, Casting,
I kid you not. My husband loved the Watchmen comic book series so much he actually read the whole thing to me right after we started dating. Luckily, I had the pictures to distract me. And luckily for him—I married him anyway. Now, I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy the story….it was just weird having a comic book dictated to me.
For those who are equally enthusiastic about the 1980’s Alan Moore series, you may be happy to know that casting has finally been announced for a film adaptation. Whether you agree with the choices in an entirely different matter.
- Billy Crudup (Almost Famous) = Dr. Manhattan
- Patrick Wilson (Little Children) = Night Owl
- Matthew Goode (The Lookout) = Ozymandias
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Weeds, Grey’s Anatomy) = the Comedian
- Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children) = Rorschach
- Malin Akerman (Harold and Kumar..) = Silk Spectre
The Cold War-set movie will be directed by 300‘s Zack Snyder. While I may have feigned interest six years ago, I’m sure I will be there on opening day (assuming the production ever gets started). Meanwhile, there is one casting announcement piquing my catty alter-ego. Billy Crudup (the man who abandoned a pregnant Mary-Louise Parker) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (the man who just dated Mary-Louise Parker) are in the same movie together??? Muy interesante!

Angelina Jolie Takes on Historic Lore In Beowulf
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Paramount, Adaptation, Classics, Drama, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Of all the actresses in all the sets in all the world, Angelina Jolie had to walk into Old English literature. She’ll be part of the cast in Paramount’s Beowulf, directed by Robert Zemeckis. Anyone who sat through High School English will probably remember the ancient tale of warrior Beowulf against nasty little Grendel, one of the most famous literary villains. Ray Winstone will play the title character in the flick, with Crispin Glover slated to play the monster. Jolie will play the monster’s mother, seductress of Beowulf and more desperate for a child than your average thirty-five-year-old single woman. The epic poem was carefully translated into an understandable script, with strong sexual overtones igniting an otherwise somewhat dry tale of heroism. Film insiders say the integrity of the book has been preserved.

Willa Ford To Play Anna Nicole
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Independent, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Willa Ford may or may not have joined the rest of America in an Anna Nicole obsession, but she will be learning a whole lot more about the former Playmate. If Willa’s name isn’t familiar, it’s because she was on Dancing with the Stars. But Willa’s got a whole new gig, as she’s been cast to play Anna Nicole in the independent movie of the same name. The movie will depict Anna Nicole Smith’s life from age 17 to her untimely death at 39, and will begin shooting in Los Angeles this June. After a month of searching, Willa Ford has been given the role, though the producers say they may cast another actress to depict the different ages of Anna. No other main characters in the life of Smith have yet been cast for the movie, which may air on television instead of in the theatres. The makers of the flick have already stated they
will
won’t be showing the “trash” (their word) of Anna Nicole’s life and death, including her marriage to J. Howard Marshall. No one involved with Anna Nicole Smith will receive any monetary compensation or profit from the film. The Nasser brothers, who are making the movie, didn’t buy the rights to Smith’s life story – they didn’t have to, because they’re basing the entire film on the prolific media coverage surrounding Anna Nicole.

Bunny Lake Not the Only One Missing
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Columbia Pictures, Adaptation, Drama, Mystery, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
A big-budget remake of the 1965 Otto Preminger hit Bunny Lake is Missing has been in the works for three years, an adaptation of a famed novel. Spyglass, fundraiser of the flick, got Joe Carnahan on board to direct, while the film’s star Reese Witherspoon was announced as one of the producers, alongside Jennifer Simpson and Mark Gordon. Reese would play the lead in the film, Ann Lake, mother of missing Bunny Lake. The story is a chilling one (that should be familiar to movie buffs): a young mother arrives at school to pick up her daughter, Bunny, only to be told the child never existed. At least this part of the plot is startlingly familiar to the Jodie Foster flick Flightplan (2005), but who’s keeping track of all the remakes, really? Five weeks before production is scheduled to begin, Bunny Lake isn’t the only one missing. Now, the flick is sans one movie star/producer.
For reasons as yet unknown, Reese Witherspoon has surprisingly bailed on the project, leaving Spyglass in a frantic scuffle to find a new leading lady. With the production clock ticking, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to replace their A-list star in time, and the time table will probably be pushed back on the Bunny Lake project. For now, fans can rent the recently released to DVD version from 1965, starring Laurence Olivier as Supt. Newhouse and Carol Lynley as Ann Lake.
