Rachel Zoe Obsesses Over Shoes

Rachel Zoe loves her shoesRachel Zoe has “too many shoes.”

The celebrity stylist, who has worked with Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, and Anne Hathaway, is obsessed with footwear and can’t help splashing out on new pairs.

“I love them, I have way too many shoes.”

Rachel wore a pair of Louis Vuitton Cancan boots, which are thigh-high with laces and a four-inch heel, to the Marc Jacobs show at New York Fashion Week on Monday and revealed that they are her current must-have item.

“These boots, I’ve got to have these frickin’ boots. I love them. And I’m obsessed with them. They take a while to get on, but they’re definitely my favorite boots. Clearly they were not meant for me—on the runway they were on a six-foot model—but I don’t care. I think that’s the whole fun of fashion. You should wear it because you feel like it.”

Rachel is a firm believer in experimenting with different looks and adapting your style to suit the season, but admits that she is always inspired by the ‘60s and ‘70s: “Some of my favorite things are vintage scarves, vintage sunglasses, and great cocktail rings. You find them all over the world at flea markets!”

Designers, Celebs Flock to Coco Avant Chanel

Audrey Tautou in, of course, ChanelDespite the fact that Karl Lagerfeld didn’t have a show lined up for New York Fashion Week, celebrities and designers alike got their Chanel fix with the New York premiere of the biopic Coco Avant Chanel.

The film’s stars, Audrey Tautou and Alessandro Nivola, joined director Anne Fontaine for a night away from the fashion week craze. Rachel Bilson, Ciara, Estelle, Adriana Lima, Jason Wu, and Candace Bergen were among the other guests in attendance.

Tautou felt a strong connection and conviction with her subject, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel: “I really don’t see any other designer who has had such a destiny as Chanel. A movie [about a different designer] shouldn’t be made.”

The film makes its way across the US in limited theaters next Friday, September 25.

Superhero Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham travels like a stylish superheroVictoria Beckham fights fashion crimes and changes clothes just like “Superman.”

The former Spice Girls star makes herself comfortable as quickly as possible when she takes a long haul flight and often changes clothes while in the air.

Referring to superhero Superman, who changed into special costume in a phone box whenever his powers were needed, Victoria explained, “I think it’s the way I was brought up—when you travel you always look nice. I always have a tracksuit or my pajamas in my bag, so I go into the toilet—I’m a bit like Superman when I get in there, I put on something comfortable.”

The British star, who has three sons with soccer star husband David Beckham, also insisted her famous pout is not a deliberate pose but is her natural expression when lost in thought.

She explained on The View, “I just think that’s just me. Maybe it’s the way my face falls, I don’t know. At the end of the day I do what I do. Half the time I’m just doing it, thinking, getting it done, sorting out the kids, you know.”

Alex Perry Loves What He Does

Alex Perry loves making custom outfits for clientsAlex Perry is addicted to dressing famous people.

The Australian designer has styled some of the world’s most beautiful women, including Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and Elle Macpherson, and says that his first experience was everything he’d ever dreamed of.

“The first time I dressed Elle Macpherson, I thought I was going to die. Then I was like a crack addict, and I thought, ‘Right! Who can I dress next?’ I had one tear sheet in Vogue and I thought, ‘You know what? Kill me now. I am so fabulous!’ “

Despite being a hugely successful and in-demand designer, Alex always insists on fitting every custom-made dress himself because he feels he gives it that extra edge: “It sounds minor, but I’ll make it half an inch tighter. I’ll make it half an inch lower. I can make you look that extra size smaller.”

Alex added he doesn’t care what people think of him and never lets negative comments from others get to him: “You’re gay, you’re fat, you’re thin, you’re an a**hole, you’re not talented, you rip off Valentino. I’ll give you a list if you like. I don’t know those people, and I don’t care. I know what I do, and I know who I am, and what people say really doesn’t affect me.”

Mark Ronson Turns Posen Show Into Nightclub

A look from Zac Posen's Spring/Summer '10 collectionZac Posen’s New York Fashion Week show was accompanied by music from Mark Ronson.

The fashion designer showed his Spring/Summer ‘10 collection at The Altman Building at 9am, after being forced to move his showcase from its usual evening slot. Undeterred by the early hour, Zac had the building transformed into a nightclub, complete with curving runway, low lights, and music from the renowned super-producer.

The clothes were created from an eye-popping pallet of pink, orange, lime, fuschia and cobalt, often mixed and matched to form clashing combinations. Off-the-shoulder dresses with pleated skirts, ‘60s-style macs, sweater dresses, and knitted maxi-dresses all made an appearance. Jackets with structured shoulders were also a big look, along with draped trousers which emphasized hips.

The finale, witnessed by celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe, included a series of beautifully-made evening gowns in black, cobalt, and silver mesh, with some boasting sequins.

Victoria Beckham Finally Breaks Into Fashion Industry

A piece from the Victoria Beckham CollectionVictoria Beckham is “amazed” by the popularity of her clothing line.

The singer-turned-fashion-designer presented her third dress collection at New York Fashion Week yesterday and said that she finally feels she has broken into the industry properly.

Referring to her soccer-star husband David Beckham, she said, “I know I used to be in a pop group, and I’m married to a footballer—a very lovely footballer. But I’m grateful that people are prepared to leave their preconceptions at the door and let the dresses speak for themselves. The sell-through has been amazing.”

Victoria showed her latest line in an art gallery and revealed that she has decided to focus on legs, rather than cleavage, for the Spring/Summer ‘10 collection.

“I think it looks more attractive, and it’s what my customers want.”

The dresses have higher corsets than previous ones, and while some graze the thigh, her knee and full-length styles also make an appearance. Colors include cerise, raspberry, black and gray, and many have blown-up shoulder pads, with Victoria claiming they “make your waist look so much smaller.”

Victoria’s dress range has proved a hit with celebrities, with Elle Macpherson, Madonna, and Brooke Shields all being spotted in outfits from the collection recently.
