Bedbugs Shut Down Hollister SoHo Store
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: News, Rumors,
Waves of Hollister fragrances aren’t the only thing you should be worried about when perusing the surf-happy store—you’ve got to steer clear of the bedbugs nowadays!
The retail chain, owned by Abercrombie & Fitch, recently shut its SoHo store down due to the infestation, which one spokesman said was only “affecting certain isolated areas of the store.”
Well, that’s not what an employee is saying: “The first report of bedbug bites in the store was three weeks ago by and employee and a manager, but that was ignored. On Tuesday the 29th, an employee found that she had been bitten, and also found a live bedbug and an exoskeleton on her borrowed Hollister outfit. All of the employees were forced to continue working even though more and more bugs were being discovered.”
Gotta love those corporate decisions.
The store’s closing is only temporary; the company says that it’s working hard to get rid of the bug problem.

Lily Cole Planning to Retire From Modeling
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Models, News, Rumors,
As much as it was hoped to be a rumor, Lily Cole is seriously considering to retire from modeling.
The flame-haired British beauty admits her heart lies in acting, and her days left in the modeling world may be numbered.
“I love acting and if the right opportunity did come along I would definitely consider quitting altogether. It is certainly something I want to prioritize in the future. It’s not a finite decision though - I may not get the opportunity. If a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity came along I’d even consider leaving Cambridge University to do a film. I’d definitely weigh up my options and talk to my tutors about flexibility.”
The 22-year-old model, however, admits her time in the industry has helped her develop as an actress.
“It’s hard to distinguish whether it has helped but I don’t know any other way. It’s definitely helped confidence wise. I find acting much more of a challenge - acting is definitely harder.”
Recently Lily confessed she was not into following trends and prefers to wear timeless pieces: “To be honest, I’m not a huge follower of trends. I just go with what I feel and what I like, I have a lot of things in my wardrobe that like I consider quite timeless and that I’ll wear again and again through the years.”
Lady Gaga Debuts First Sarah Burton for McQueen Piece
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Rumors,

While it may not have been much of a surprise that Alexander McQueen’s right-hand lady Sarah Burton would take over his label, what is surprising is how soon she’d start churning out pieces. Also not surprising: Lady Gaga is the first to wear them.
The McQueen lover debuted a custom-made catsuit designed by Burton for her private performance at Duane Park last night. The club was apparently so exclusive that the only photos that have surfaced are two-toned and grainy; quite a bummer, considering the outfit already looks gorgeous from what I can tell.
What do you think of Sarah Burton’s first womenswear look for Alexander McQueen?

Givenchy Not Appearing in Couture Shows
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, News, Rumors, Sales,
Givenchy is ditching traditional catwalk shows in favor of private appointments with high fashion clients and editors.
The luxury French label is aiming to make fashion even more exclusive by condensing future collections into 10 looks and presenting them in the luxurious settings of an 18th century town house on the Place Vendome in Paris. The label’s couturier Riccardo Tisci told WWD he is tired of traditional fashion shows, saying, “I want to make couture even more special than it is, and not just another catwalk show. People can really experience the couture moment - see it, touch it.”
The presentation will include a lookbook shot by renowned Vogue photographer Willy Vanderperre with appearances by David Walliams’ supermodel wife Lara Stone and Mariacarla Boscono.
Laughing off reports this is a cost cutting measure, the label revealed the presentations will actually cost 35 per cent more than a traditional catwalk show. The fashion house, however, is not ruling out smaller fashion shows in the future as Tisci revealed further collections will be unveiled at the label’s couture salons where mini catwalk shows will be held.
“It’s going to be a very good moment for creativity. For couture, it’s going to go back to being very exclusive,” Tisci added, heralding this as a new start.
Quote of the Day: Tim Gunn on Anna Wintour
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Shows, News, Rumors,

“I was with a colleague from Parsons, and we had been discussing the will-she-or-won’t-she-take-the-elevator question, so we ran over to the elevator bay to see if Anna would deign to get on. She wasn’t there. Then we looked over the stairway railing. And what did we see but Anna being carried down the stairs. The bodyguards had made a fireman’s lock and were racing her from landing to landing. She was sitting on their crossed arms.”

Tom Nicon Commits Suicide
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News, Rumors,
Model Tom Nicon has committed suicide.
The 22-year-old French model - who has also fronted campaigns for Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss and Versace - reportedly jumped 40 ft. to his death from his apartment window on Friday in Milan, Italy, after splitting from his girlfriend.
Tom, who is currently the face of iconic British brand Burberry, was found dead just hours before the start of Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week.
Designer Donatella Versace has expressed her sadness at the model’s death: “Tom was with us on Friday morning for a final show fitting. He seemed fine and calm. He had already done three or four shows with us and he was a sweet boy. We just can’t understand why he did what he did. We would never have thought he would do something like this. When we heard the news we were all so upset and we still are all so very sad.”

Stella McCartney Pregnant With Fourth Child

Congratulations are in order for famed fashion designer Stella McCartney, who is expecting a fourth child. Despite having noted in February that she’s “ready to have a bit of a break first,” the daughter of the famous Beatles musician will be, in fact, adding onto her family with husband Alasdhair Willis.
“Stella loves the idea of having a closeknit family, just like the one she grew up in. She’s a great mum. She has been telling all her friends the good news,” a source close to the designer said.
McCartney’s family currently includes her two sons—Miller, five, and Beckett, two—and three year-old daughter Bailey.

Erin O’Connor to Continue With Catwalk
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, News, Rumors,
Age is nothing but a number for Erin O’Connor, who has no plans to retire from the catwalk.
The 32-year-old beauty wants to carry on down the runway for as long as possible as she doesn’t think age has anything do to with a model’s ability to pose for the cameras.
“I hate that idea of retirement or ‘You’re past your sell-by-date.’ That is very odd, because, for me, it is about moving, showcasing and being an outrageous poser.”
Erin says she absolutely loves being in the fashion industry and finds being on the catwalk liberating: “You’d think after 15 years I would be bored, but I’m not. The catwalk is like liberation, because there is a bit of performance involved, a bit of skill thrown in, so it doesn’t matter what age you are.”
Now she is one of the more experienced women in the fashion industry, Erin recently set up the Model Sanctuary, which offers respite and a full-time nutritionist to very young models, as she knows they need help when starting out. “These are really young people. They don’t always realize that they need to set their own boundaries.”
