Will Lindsay Lohan Go to Jail on Friday?

Lindsay Lohan in CourtUPDATE: Lindsay Lohan has been sentenced to jail.

Lindsay Lohan returns to court Friday for two reasons. When the actress faces the judge, she’ll have two hearings and may be sent straight to jail before the day is through.

Linds will be facing a preliminary hearing in her grand theft case, as well as a hearing to determine whether she’s violated her current probation. If she’s found guilty of probation violation, she could be taken right to the clink.

On the necklace front, the judge will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to give the matter a trial. Judge Stephanie Sautner will allow no cameras in her courtroom during the event, though cameras are already posted outside the building in hopes of catches glimpses of Lindsay walking to and from. Entertainment Tonight has released a few more moments of the infamous jewelry store surveillance video, where Lindsay Lohan spent a much talked-about 25 minutes of her life. The single shopping stop could send Linds to jail for felony grand theft. And, you can see the crime she committed in the video above.

Four cameras inside Kamofie & Co. captured Lohan from many angles as she shopped for trinkets, one of them a $2,500 necklace that she’s now accused of stealing. TMZ reports that Lohan is planning to sue the jewelry store for profiting from the surveillance tape, and making money for using her image (which she never gave them permission to do).

In the scene above, you'll see Lindsay Lohan putting on the necklace.

Lindsay Lohan Surveillance Video Sold

Lindsay Lohan in courtUPDATE: Parts of the video can now be viewed here.

As we reported last week, there is about forty-five minutes of video surveillance that shows Lindsay Lohan inside the jewelry store where she allegedly stole a $2,500 necklace. The entire crime has been recorded by cameras.

And now, a single Beverly Hills company owns all that footage. Despite the fact that the surveillance video is still part of an ongoing court case, the video has been sold to The Spencer Co. On a new website created just for the video, the company promises that will bring the footage to viewers “shortly.”

According to the teaser page, “the tapes speak for themselves.” Yeah, that’s what we heard too. But that isn’t the same as seeing, and so far the site offers no definite times or dates. The Spencer Co. is working with the Associated Press on releasing the footage. It has been rumored that the jewelry store itself sold the video, though nothing official has been offered by any of the parties involved.

Entertainment Tonight obtained some pictures from the video, which you can view at their site.

Lindsay Lohan could be charged with felony grand theft for taking the necklace from Kamofie & Co.

Lindsay Lohan: Free From Jail, For Now

Lindsay Lohan grand theft court appearance

Lindsay Lohan’s $40,000 bail has been posted, and she’s free to roam all the jewelry stores in downtown Los Angeles . . . for now. The former child star pled not guilty on Wednesday to the felony grand theft charge she received for allegedly swiping a $2500 necklace from a Venice, California jewelry shop.

Lohan’s lawyer, Shawn Chapman-Holley, argues that Linds believed she was borrowing the piece. It is not uncommon for jewelry stores to lend out important pieces to celebs who will be photographed wearing the items, but in this case the jewelry store says no way -- Lindsay Lohan took the necklace without their consent or knowledge.

The actress must go back to court on February 23 to argue her innocence. Lohan could receive up to 3 years in prison for grand theft, if the charge sticks, on top of additional jail time for violating her probation. Lohan is on probation following her 2007 DUI arrest, and this won’t expire until August 11.
