You get to be “the key evangelist for producing products which expand the next-gen MMO brand outside of the gaming industry” and “the key liaison between the development team and other functional teams within Blizzard Entertainment to create brand-extending merchandise for the next-gen MMO franchise.”

TweetCraft: Twitter within World of Warcraft

TweetCraft brings two obsessive habits together, allowing you to do both at once. That’s right, my addicted friends, you can now follow your Twitter friends (like us!) while you play World of Warcraft, thanks to a handy little tool called Tweetcraft. Tweetcraft is an in-game Twitter client that lets you tweet while playing. You can also upload screenshots, and have it send out tweets when you log in to the game, enter an instance, or get an achievement. Yeah, so, it’s pretty much a must-have if you are a World of Warcraft-addicted Twitter fanatic. Hit the video above for more on how it all looks and works.

WoW Self-Contained Pod

Leave it to MIT to come up with an extreme WoW “accessory.” Cati Vaucelle, a self-confessed hardcore gamer, developed the WoW pod, which is self-contained and resembles a hut in the game. Made of MDF wood painted with lacquer, it has acrylic sheets outside for texture and skin and fur inside. Because she doesn’t want to be interrupted during her game time, she added a throne that doubles as a toilet, a pot for cooking and automated stovetop. This is how Ms. Vaucelle describes her creation, “The WoW Pod is a cocoon that structures a relationship between your physical body and your avatar.”

WOW: Wrath of the Lich King Launches Bigtime

WOW Lich Blizzard Entertainment certainly knows how to promote a product. The company announced that it sold 2.8 million copies of Wrath of the Lich King within the first 24 hours, beating the previous record in Jan. 2007, when they sold 2.4 million copies of The Burning Crusade. As we previously let you know, Blizzard opened doors at midnight at over 15,000 stores worldwide. Before the launch there were more than 11 million gamers. We expect that the amount will increase with the new expansion sales.

WOW: Wrath of the Lich King Midnight Release

Get ready, hard core WOW players. The new Wrath of the Lich King expansion will be officially available in stores tomorrow, but midnight madness has set in. Copies will go for $39.99 for PC or Mac one second after midnight. There are also official launch events in NY, SF, Austin and Anaheim where you can enter a contest to win a Blizzard Entertainment signed copy. A Collector’s Edition will be available as well. Get moving. You only have a few hours left to partake in the gaming merriment.

DataTraveler HyperX USB Flash Drive

HyperX Flash Drive Kingston Technology, long associated with fast drivers, is offering up the DataTraveler HyperX USB flash and is trying to tantalize with the inclusion of a free 10 day World of Warcraft trial. Encased in metallic blue with black grips and capless, the drive promises transfer rates of 30Mbps read and 20Mbps write and will work with any Windows platform (but hints around that Vista is best.) The HyperX comes with a 5 year warranty, tech support, and is priced at £23.35 (~$45.00) for the 2GB version to £92.10 (~$179.00) for 8GB.

Universal Avatars To Be Developed

WOW Unbroken IBM and Linden Lab’s Second Life are collaborating to create universal avatars that will be able to travel between virtual worlds. Both companies are hoping that more gamers will explore virtual worlds by making them simplified. They are putting the emphasis on a single system for now that allows users to move between worlds. The announcement came before the launch of the Virtual Worlds Conference in San Jose, California, this week. Last year there were only 9 virtual sites, but that number has jumped to thirty. We want to know if you go from Warcraft to Second Life, could you get to stay in your armor?
