Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5, DMC-FZ200, DMC-LX7 detailed early

The Telegraph briefly had a story up this morning that made mention of new updates to Panasonic digital cameras, the star of which was the Lumix DMC-G5. Boasting a 16-megapixel Venus Engine VII sensor, 3-inch display, and a redesigned shell, the DMC-G5 will shoot full 1080p high definition video and sell for about $940 as an entry-level kit, or $1,375 with extras.
The DMC-FZ200 was also detailed as having a 25-600mm lens that can stay locked at a f/2.8 aperture, as well as the DMC-LX7 compact camera that has full manual controls. We should hear more officially tomorrow, and we will let you know when we do.

Nikon Coolpix P500 review

If you want to capture the action close up, the 12.1-megapixel Nikon Coolpix P500, with its 36x zoom lens, will get you right there. But with this digital camera, you get more than just an insanely long lens. Good image quality, speed, and a well-rounded feature set, are part of the deal. Just keep in mind: The P500 is big, since it houses a big lens, but you don't get a large sensor, like you would with a compact interchangeable lens camera or a Digital SLR. Video: Unboxing the Nikon D80 Outfit

Over on Unboxing, we just posted a new video of us opening up a Nikon D80 Outfit set. The D80 Outfit is the retail box that includes the Nikon D80 digital SLR, along with an 18-55mm lens. It’s fairly pricey at about $1200, but you can find the Nikon D80 Outfit cheaper if you shop around for it. Enjoy the unboxing video for now, and look for a review shortly.

Lensbaby 3G In-depth Review

So obviously, we at Gear Live are fans of new camera technology and the selective focus Lensbabies SLR lenses certainly fit the bill. We were already familiar with their selective focus lenses for digital cameras in the form of their second generation (2G) Lensbaby, but they were kind enough to provide us with one of their brand new 3G Lenbabies for review.
The Lensbaby is a bellows style lens for modern SLR cameras. They feature low dispersion multi-coated optical glass lens mounted within a flexible rubber tube to allow the photographer to tilt the lens side to side as well as compress it closer to the camera. Much like cameras from 100 years ago or more focusing is accomplished by simply compressing the bellows to move the lens closer or further away from the camera. We met up with the Lensbaby crew, where we got a look at the new Lensbaby 3G. If you are a digital SLR enthusiast and haven’t heard, the Lensbaby product is a selective focus SLR camera lens that allows you to take images with a focused sharp area that is surrounded by a stylistic blur. We have seen quite a few Lensbaby shots, and they really are quite unique and interesting. The Lensbaby 3G is available now for $270, which for an SLR lens, is pretty much a steal.
