Wannabe spies in Korea will now have another tool for checking out the enemy, the neighbors, or creatures that go bump in the night. has released the Anycall SCH-W760 with an infrared night vision camera. Mostly basic in its other specs, the phone also has a 2.8-inch WQVGA AMOLED screen, DMB, a 3 megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory. No price or release date in other countries has been mentioned.

Samsung has a nifty design with its HMX-R10 HD Camcorder. Flip out its 2.7-inch LCD touchscreen with TouchUI control that they promise to be responsive and simple to use. With a 5x zoom lens that angles up to 25º, it also has a flash, captures up to 600 fps in H.264 format, takes 9MP still photos and can store 1920x1080 videos on SD/SDHC cards. The cam was released this week in Korea with a price of ~$499.99, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it made it to the States this holiday season.

Samsung is the latest company to try to compete with their new dedicated movie store. Samsung Movies are available to the company’s cell phones, PCs and laptops. About 500 movies and TV shows are in the starting lineup, with an additional 1,000 to be added by the summer. Initially the service will only be available in the UK and Germany. Rentals start at a price of $3.49 while film sales start at $6.99.

Smartphone Users Spend Big Bucks on Applications

ABI Research surveyed 235 smartphone users in the U.S. who installed applications in 2008. Their result was that 16.5% spent between $100.00 and $499.00. That’s a lot of apps considering that many of them are free or less than $25.00. Analyst Jeff Orr sees this as the reason, “Apple is seen by some as hurting the market with its iPhone App Store. It drives the price of content down to $1-2, using a model similar to its successful iTunes music store. If you exclude Apple from the mix, applications for other platforms cost about $7-25 each.”

He went on to say that Apple’s marketing did a lot to get others to work on their own. Look for application storefronts from Nokia, Palm, RIM and Samsung to come this year.
