Samsung Reclaim: Eco-friendly, $50 Sprint QWERTY

Posted by Mark Rollins Categories: Cell Phones, Handhelds

Samsung Reclaim

The Reclaim is the newest mobile phone from the company, and it’s all about being a bit more mindful of the environment. In fact, this is it’s main selling point, as Sprint claims that $2 from every sale will go to The Nature Conservancy’s Adopt an Acre program, but there is more to it than that. 80% of the materials used to build the Reclaim are recyclable, and it’s the first 3G QWERTY device on Sprint to hit the magical $50 price point with contract.

Other features include Bluetooth 2.0, 2 megapixel camera, and an integrated Web Browser.  It will be available on August 16 from Sprint, Best Buy and The Shack, in colors of Earth Green and Ocean Blue, of course.

Cricket TXTM8 phone optimized for SMS-only

Cricket TXTM8I believe that there is an entire generation that uses their mobile phone for text messages only, and it would appear that Cricket is prepared for it with the TXTM8.

The TXTM8, or text-mate, is a messaging phone with a full QWERTY keyboard.  Don’t ask me where that keyboard is in this picture (we’re guessing slider,) but I’m told that it also comes with a customizable homescreen that allows users access to web content such as news and weather.  Other features include a 1.3 Megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, a music player, and microSD slot.

Interested?  The Cricket TXTM8 is available now for a price of $140.

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Cell Phones, GPS, Handhelds, Rumors

Dell TravellerWhen something like this comes out we just have to share. Rumor has it that Dell has gotten together with Pharos in an effort to jump on the smartphone bandwagon with the Traveller 117 and 127. Each has Windows Mobile 6.1, QWERTY keyboard and 7.2 Mbps HSDA support. They also have VGA video call capability, a 2 megapixel cam, and four hours of talk time and 200 standby. While the Travellers may have some awesome GPS capability, we don’t think Apple or RIM have too much to worry about.
