Quote of the Day: Shailene Woodley on Jennifer Lawrence Comparisons

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Movies, Rivalries, Features,

Shailene Woodley and Jennifer Lawrence

"As women, we are constantly told that we need to compare ourselves to a girl in school, to our co-workers, to the images in a magazine... How is the world going to advance if we’re always comparing ourselves to others? I admire Jennifer Lawrence, but she’s everyone’s favorite person to compare me to. Is it because we both have short hair and a vagina? I see us as separate individuals. And that’s important. As women, our insecurities are based on all these comparisons. And that creates distress."

- Divergent star Shailene Woodley explains why she told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that "Comparisons always lead to despair" when the SNL alum asked her how she feels being compared to Jennifer Lawrence (to which the audience booed at her response).

Jimmy Fallon and Will Smith on 'The Tonight Show'

Robert DeNiro, Lady Gaga, Lindsay Lohan and Mariah Carey were among the surprise guests on Jimmy Fallon's debut Tonight Show last night. The former Saturday Night Live star anchored his first show from New York and took the time to mock a "buddy" who bet him he would never land the job, prompting a host of famous faces to come out and honor the bet.

"To my buddy who said that I'd never be the host of The Tonight Show - and you know who you are - you owe me a hundred bucks, buddy," he said. DeNiro then walked through the curtains and handed the host a $100 bill, and was quickly followed by Tina Fey, Joe Namath, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Mariah - who appeared to pull her $100 from her cleavage - Tracy Morgan, Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian, Seth Rogen, Lindsay , Sarah Jessica Parker, Mike Tyson, Gaga, and Stephen Colbert, who emptied $100 in pennies over Jimmy's head.

Jay Leno’s Final Guests Announced

Jay LenoJay Leno will be joined by Billy Crystal for his final show.

The 63-year-old talk show host will step down from The Tonight Show on February 6 after almost 22 years and will mark the occasion by interviewing the actor, who was the first guest when he made his debut on the program in May 1992.

Country music superstar Garth Brooks will perform on the final show, while his successor Jimmy Fallon - who takes over on February 17 - will appear on February 3 for a for a "passing of the baton."

Though Jay's future is uncertain when he leaves the show, network NBC are keen to keep his services. "I'm hoping we will enter into a new relationship with him and keep his home on NBC... I would love him to do specials with us and other shows he could host. We're being very respectable of him and not pushing that agenda too hard," NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the presenter is "highly unlikely" to stay with NBC and is currently meeting with other networks.

Jimmy Fallon gets first Playstation 4 hands-on [Video!]

jimmy fallon ps4 killzone shadowfall

Jimmy Fallon was the first to go be able to actually play the Playstation 4, live on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Fallon got first impressions of the DualShock 4 controller that includes the touchpad and share button functionality, and got to play some Killzone: Shadow Fall with Hermen Hulst, Managing Director of Guerilla Games. As you can see, neither Jimmy, nor guest Anthony Anderson, were that impressive, but they make up for it with some laughs.

Sony introduced the world to the Playstation 4 the other day, but didn't allow anyone to go hands-on with the console. Instead, we were treated to a bunch of video packages and demos showing just how great everything would be. Heck, Sony didn't even show the actual console itself, citing that it's "just a box" and in the grand scheme of things, isn't as important as the experience itself.

Check out the video below for a look at the segment.
