Download Coldplay’s New Album for Free

Description

Who says Christmas only comes once a year?

Starting today, fans can download ‘s new live CD for free. The nine-track album, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, was recorded during various stops on the Viva La Vida tour.

Those who attend one of the group’s remaining dates (outside of festivals) will get a complimentary hard copy. Others can simply enjoy the tracks via the band’s website (until the current tour ends).

ABC/Disney Shows Coming to Hulu

Catching up on missed ABC programs will soon become that much easier.

Thanks to a deal that is still being finalized, programs ranging from to General Hospital will eventually be made available on Hulu. ABC, owned by Disney, will now become the third major network (alongside NBC and FOX) to allow ad-supported webstreaming of their shows via the site.

American Idol 8: iTunes Stats Revealed

In case you somehow missed the massive promotion, iTunes is partnered with . Every week, you can download tracks as sung by the contestants themselves, studio versions of the ditties they sing on the big Idol stage. The iTunes data, however, isn’t (supposed to be) released during the Idol season - doing so might reveal too much about who’s hot and who’s not on the show.

But iTunes has slipped up in the past and “accidentally” released these stats. Predictably, it’s . Of the current crop of competitors, it seems that Adam Lambert is resoundingly the most downloaded, with Kris Allen coming in at number two.

Matt Giraud is currently in the lowest position as far as iTunes standings go.

RIPQuietly, SpiralFrog stopped croaking last Thursday. The company had been in trouble last year and issued secured notes to borrow about $9 million. Launched in August 2006, the site offered free downloads and featured advertising to pay for the privilege. It launched with Universal and took almost 2 years to add EMI. While the weak economy and having CEO changes may be part of the reason for the demise, it probably didn’t help that the files were DRM-protected.

Blockbuster Tests Game Rentals

Total Access logoBlockbuster is testing video game rentals as part of their Total Access subscription and should be available to all their customers by the second half of 2009. Although games cost more than DVDs and have a shorter shelf life, the company may get into some revenue sharing deals with game studios. If you want to subscribe to the service, it will cost you a $5.00 surcharge. In the true spirit of competition, we hope this will help the Blockbuster stay in the game, literally.

We have to admit we like VOD as they often have some freebies and that is a good thing. Look for the new VIERA CAST early this year.
