Sonos Sub: Add bass to your wireless music setup

Sonos Sub

We've been big fans of Sonos here at Gear Live for years. The wireless sound system is a pleasure to use and makes multi-room music a snap to set up. Today the company is introducing a new addition to its product line--the Sonos Sub.

The Sub aims to provide a simple (but expensive) way to add deep bass to your Sonos Play:3 and Play:5 units. You simple plug it into the wall and use the Sonos app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer to add it so your setup.

HTC EVO 4G LTE, One X delayed indefinitely in customs due to Apple patent infringement

HTC One X

Whoa! It looks like two major HTC devices have just been indefinitely delayed at United States Customs for an investigation due to an Apple patent infringement. If you were ready to pick up the HTC One X or HTC EVO 4G LTE on day one, you've got a wait ahead of you:

"The US availability of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order. We believe we are in compliance with the ruling and HTC is working closely with Customs to secure approval."

While HTC is putting on the smiley face for the public, this is a pretty serious blow. The devices that are being held infringe on an Apple patent that covers the action of automatically turning email addresses and phone numbers in tappable links. We don't see how HTC can quickly remove that feature from phones that are sitting in their shipping containers.

Droid RAZR Maxx price drop

Verizon has just cut the price of the Droid RAZR Maxx by a whopping $100, bringing the price of the long-lasting 4G LTE smartphone down to $199.99 with two-year contract. That's a great price for the supercharged Motorola handset. Verizon is also touting its new partnership with Facebook video app Color, which allows you to share 30-second video snippets over 4G LTE. Speaking of the Droid RAZR Maxx, it should be picking up Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich very, very shortly.

iOS 6 to feature new Apple-powered Maps, eliminating Google

iOS 6 Maps

Google Maps has been a mainstay on in iOS since the birth of the original iPhone back in 2007. For us, the Maps app is one of our most used apps on the device, and we'd bet that this is the same for many others. However, Apple need Google Maps anymore. The company has purchased multiple mapping companies in the past couple of years, including C3 Technologies, Poly9, and Placebase. We haven't really seen the fruits of these acquisitions yet, but that may all be changing with iOS 6.

Motorola Droid RAZR Blue

Not feeling all the black and (sometimes) white Android devices out there? Well, prepare yourself, because Verizon has announced that a blue version of the Motorola Droid RAZR is on the way. Just to be clear, the only thing changing here is the color, so you'll get the same 4.3-inch display and Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS that all the other RAZRs are rocking. The blue model officially goes on sale next week, but you might be able to find it at physical Verizon stores a little sooner than that.

Flipboard for Android leak

When Samsung launched the Galaxy S III, one of the little touches of the presentation was that Flipboard would finally be coming to Android, with limited exclusivity to the Galaxy S III. Well, it looks like that's out the window. Now, if you're looking to pick up the Galaxy S III, no worries, you still get Flipboard. However, the app has leaked, and pretty much anyone running an Android device can install it, right now, long before the Galaxy S III even ships. You can grab the APK (Android installation file) over on the XDA-developers forum. We've got full instructions on how to install Flipboard for Android as well.

Pebble wristwatch picks up Bluetooth 4.0 after massive demand

Pebble Bluetooth Watch

Allerta, the group behind the Pebble Bluetooth watch that became an overnight Kickstarter sensation, has announced that due to overwhelming demand, the watch will be compatible with Bluetooth 4.0. If you scour the comments on the Pebble Kickstarter page, you'll notice Bluetooth 4.0 requests by the plenty. We figured it was just too late in the game to switch around the design of a watch that's slated to ship so soon, but the company says that Bluetooth 4.0 inclusion was on the list for a while, and therefore, the decision won't affect the ship date at all. That said, when the Pebble watch does ship, it'll be Bluetooth 2.1 out of the gate, with the Bluetooth 4.0 module being activated later through a software update that'll be available to all.

HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE ready for Verizon launch

Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Verizon has officially announced the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE, and it's everything we expected it'd be. From the name alone, you know that this is the latest in the Droid Incredible line, powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, bringing with it Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4-inch Super LCD qHD display, and HTC Sense 4. An 8 megapixel rear camera is on board, as well as a microSD slot that'll accept up to 32 GB of storage (although, we don't have details yet on onboard memory just yet.) Last, but certainly not least, this is the first Droid Incredible to pack a 4G LTE punch. You can pick one up in the coming weeks.

Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE now available for pre-order

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cell Phones, Handhelds

HTC EVO 4G LTE pre-order

Sprint is readying for the release of the HTC EVO 4G LTE, and today it moves a step closer to release. Starting today, you can pre-order yourself an EVO 4G LTE for $199.99 (or you can get it for $149.99 from Wirefly) with two-year contract. If you're not eligible for an upgrade, the cost shoots up to $549. Unfortunately, Sprint's LTE network has yet to go live, so the phone will likely be a 3G affair at launch. Disappointing, but, hey, when LTE is lit up on the Now Network, the phone will be ready on day one. Wirefly says the Ice Cream Sandwich device should ship on May 18th.
