Yves Behar, the famous designer of the popular array of Jawbone bluetooth headsets, Jambox portable stereo jukebox and fitness activity monitor Up, has launched a new company, promoting a smart door lock, August. August is a keyless digital lock system for your home connected to low powered Bluetooth with an iPhone app. August does not solely rely on Wi-Fi in order for it to function, so no need to worry in the event of a power outage. The device is said to be easy to install in a two-step process compared to other locking solutions. It does not require an additional lock for the outside door and it's said to not be noticeable since the device is housed in the inside lock of the home, which it replaces. Check out the video after the break.

August is round and machined beautifully from an aluminum similar to the Nest Thermostat. It also comes in different colors and is powered by two AA batteries that the company says should last 6 to 12 months, depending on usage. If the battery runs out, it can still be opened as a regular door lock with a key. August sends push notifications whenever the service is being used, thus alerting the user that someone with a temporary digital key has entered or exited the home. The coolest thing is that, supposedly, they are working on other devices that can open the door, such as a Bluetooth health bracelet. August will be priced at $199 and pre-order starts now, shipping will be around November to December of this year.
