First Look: Sandler, Spade, and Rock are Grown Ups
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Columbia Pictures, Comedy, Celeb News, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
Adam Sandler’s latest film, Grown Ups, marks yet another reunion (nearly paralleling the story itself) with SNL veterans David Spade, Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, and Rob Schneider. Oh, and for some reason, Salma Hayek signed up for this gig, too.
In the movie, Sandler meets up with his high school friends (Spade, Rock, Schneider, and Kevin James) during a July 4th weekend, where they discover some interesting things about their families (Schneider is married to an extreme cougar, James’s four year-old kid is still breast-fed). The comedy opens in theaters on July 25, 2010.

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Jason Sudeikis: The Saturday Night Live star may be on board for Going the Distance, a romantic comedy starring (exes?) Drew Barrymore and Justin Long. Sudeikis is in talks to play Box, a friend who thinks Justin’s long-distance relationship with Drew is a mistake. (Don’t we all?) Nanette Burstein (American Teen) has been tapped to direct the New Line movie.

Comedy Duos: Which Platonic Pair Has No Peer?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Casting,
Seth Rogen and James Franco made a huge splash with Pineapple Express, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are bona fide box office gold and now Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd are joining the fray with a comedy of their own. There’s something magical about a non-romantic funny duo…or at least, they can be money-making magic for the film studios. But out of all these pairs we’ve seen grace the screen, which twosome stands out most?
Which comedians make up the funniest on-screen comedy duo (last two decades only)?

My Advice for Waitress’ Keri Russell
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News,
Ms. Russell:
I just recently watched the DVD of release of Waitress - you know, the movie you’ve been receiving all the acclaim and Oscar buzz for. Let me first start off by saying that I thought you did an amazing job. I was really happy to see you solidify your comeback since your heydey on Felicity. (I’ll even forget that your critically panned August Rush exists.)
So now that I’ve gotten the compliments out of the way, I must now move on to the purpose of my note. I read a very disturbing piece of news the other day and I’m hoping you will dispute the rumors.
Please tell me it’s not true. Please tell me you will not be starring in a comedy with Adam Sandler.
Granted, Adam Shankman (Hairspray) is slated to helm Bedtime Stories. I understand the appeal. But I’m begging you—don’t make an about face and go backwards with your career.
If this film were on the dramatic end of the Sandler spectrum (like Reign Over Me, Spanglish or Punch-Drunk Love), you might have my support. But playing the romantic interest in any Sandler comedy hasn’t really helped anyone. Don’t align yourself with the Jessical Biels of the world. You’re better than that. And how about Kate Beckinsale? How did Click benefit her? And does anyone remember Winona Ryder’s role in Mr. Deeds?
You’ve already proven your comedic chops with your stint on Scrubs. Now it’s time to take advantage of the awards season hoopla. Don’t tempt fate now by coming anywhere near a possible Rob Schneider appearance. Please.
