Comedy Duos: Which Platonic Pair Has No Peer?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Casting,

Seth Rogen and James Franco made a huge splash with Pineapple Express, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are bona fide box office gold and now Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd are joining the fray with a comedy of their own. There’s something magical about a non-romantic funny duo…or at least, they can be money-making magic for the film studios. But out of all these pairs we’ve seen grace the screen, which twosome stands out most?
Which comedians make up the funniest on-screen comedy duo (last two decades only)?
Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider: Though their interactions are often limited to a few scenes at best, Schneider is present in almost every single Sandler movie, and for good reason. The two have an obvious comedic chemistry which somehow always works in every single setting.
Cheech and Chong: Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong showed up in the seventies, and they’ve been making us laugh ever since. After eleven comedic albums and ten feature-length films, the pair had a public falling out. Thankfully, they’ve been reunited again and are reportedly hard at work on a future movie project. Known mainly for marijuana- and other drug-related humor, Cheech and Chong seem to personify the stereotype of “stoners” - and we love them for it. We roll in the aisles because of it.
David Spade and Chris Farley: Opposites are attracting to audiences, especially when you pair a lovable teddy bear (Farley) with a smart-aleck little guy (Spade). They only made two movies together - Tommy Boy and Black Sheep - but both films remain two of the funniest Hollywood’s ever produced. Sadly, Farley’s life was cut short at the age of thirty-three, or this pair might have gone to make many more flicks together.
Dana Carvey and Mike Myers: It’s true this duo only did two movies together, but before Mike Myers rocketed into comedy-movie platinum status he played leading man to Carvey’s classic sidekick role. For a brief time in the 90s, Wayne’s World came to life…and it was funny for us all. At one time, there were rumors of a possible Wayne’s World 3 film in the works, but this gossip has not been confirmed.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone: These two men are more often heard than seen, but they would receive a spot in this list even without South Park. This pair, the minds behind That’s My Bush! and Team America: World Police among many other projects, can best be observed together in BASEketball - a classic comedy sports film if there ever was one. I believe they are comedic geniuses and that no two men could ever be funnier together, making Trey Parker and Matt Stone the greatest comedy duo of the last twenty years.
