Keith Richards: Johnny Wants Me for ‘Pirates 5’

Keith Richards with Johnny DeppJohnny Depp wants Keith Richards to star in another Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The actor based his iconic character, Captain Jack Sparrow, on The Rolling Stones star, and Keith made cameo appearances as Sparrow's father, Captain Teague, in 2007's At World's End and 2011's On Stranger Tides. Now, Johnny wants Keith to put on his pirate outfit once again for the fifth movie.

"I spoke to Johnny a couple of weeks ago and he said, 'Are you up for another one?' I can leave it at that because I know no more. But I do have the costume," Keith said.

The 68-year-old musician is more often recognized by the younger generation for his role in the films than he is as a member of The Rolling Stones. "Some kids who don't know nothing about The Rolling Stones [say], 'It's Johnny Depp's dad! It's Captain Teague!' I was born for the part," he said in an interview.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Strangers Tides Trailer

So a Johnny Depp/Angelina Jolie pairing didn't exactly equate to a box office hit. But what would you get if you had Depp, a (pregnant) Penelope Cruz, mermaids, zombies and Blackbeard? A future  Disney hit.

Just a few days ago, the studio released the first pictures from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Now, we're getting a chance to see Captain Jack Sparrow in action.

Even if he fails to locate the Fountain of Youth, I doubt Depp will fail to debut in first place again. (At least not while he's wearing eyeliner.)

On Stranger Tides will open on May 20.

How Johnny Depp Scared Disney

Actor Johnny Depp recently spoke to Vanity Fair about working with Angelina Jolie on The Tourist, doing movies for Disney and how he dealt with the paparazzi while he was filming.

Although Depp earned an Oscar nod for playing Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, the powers-that-be at Disney weren’t exactly excited with his performance. The actor said on-set Disney execs “couldn’t stand” what he was doing with the character -- one person even asked if Sparrow was gay.

The actor’s answer? “All my characters are gay.” Depp said his response made the exec who asked “nervous.”

But Depp is used to taking things in stride. He spoke about filming with Angelina Jolie for The Tourist, which comes out next month, and said the paparazzi really hounded her. To avoid rumors, the two actors stayed far apart for the duration.

VIDEO: Captain Jack Sparrow Delivers Message to Comic-Con

The film may not open until next year, but it’s never too early to start drinking rum.

In this clip that debuted at , Captain Jack Sparrow (a.k.a. Johnny Depp) gives audiences a hint - or does he? - about what we should expect from during the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean installment.

“You may have also heard whisperings and rumors that Jack Sparrow will be recruiting a crew to undertake a voyage to the Fountain of Youth. Not true, course not. But even if it weren’t not true, you wouldn’t be interested in joining me - would you? Eh? No, thought not. I do admit that there’d be varied and substantial dangers along the way including, but not limited, to zombies, cutthroats, mermaids, and the vicious and vivacious - which is why I’m not going. Impossible to find the place anyway. No one knows where it is. Plus, I’d have to have a bloody map…or a Bloody Mary…or both.”
