Official Microsoft Zune Website Launches

In twelve days, Microsoft launches their Zune portable media player and music service. Seems like as good a time as any to launch the official website for the platform as well, which is exactly what the company has done over at zune.net.
As a refresher, the Zune features 30 GB of storage space and will hit retail at $249 USD. If there is any device out there that can attempt to give the iPod somewhat of a run for it’s money, it’s the Zune. Do we think it will happen? No - we don’t. However, with the marketing budget that Microsoft is going to throw at this thing, who knows what will happen this holiday season?

Microsoft maybe has adopted a different marketing strategy than the one expected. A month ago you could hardly see an online ad.
Now 2 weeks before launch I have only saw only targeted ads. For example when you search for Zune, its possible to come across a Zune ad. I don’t think they (till now) have spent a large amount of money in marketing.
And Zune has Wifi. It not what everyone expected but Zune has easy firmware update system and Matt Jubelirer, Zune team product manager, said that there will be added features as users request them!
You don’t buy the product, you buy the potential !

I’d love to see the iPod get some real competition… but “Welcome to the social”? That’s the positioning statement to launch Zune? Welcome to the social?
Ugh. Please Microsoft. Take one of those billions in your piggy bank and buy a clue.

All people are waiting for Zune and also Zune site.
Finally, Zune.net came out, but why not Zune.com ?
Both Zune.net and Zune.com should be for
Microsoft Zune information. Zune.net is a very nice site,
But on Zune.com is just some flashing pictures.

This butterflies and flowers flash with the “Zune.com is coming” could mean zune.com already belongs to Microsoft, or its holder presses Microsoft to pay him more to get it

Zunecomplaints, mentioned above, is dangerously close to being a spam blog. They contain little or no original content. Their posts are instead made up of other people’s zune related posts.
I don’t think running a link blog is a bad thing, but they should be using much smaller excerpts. Instead, they’ve taken 50-75% of the text of my own Zune related posts and added nothing. They even used my title.
