Interesting take. The iPod continues to be a top seller, not only for Apple, but among all the MP3 players. Video on an iPod is probably the most requested feature for a next iPod. However, they’ll probably upgrade the 20 to a 30 (just like their little mess up showed). The whole video sniplets in the code probably has to do with a (possible) video store or who knows it could just be something to do with iTunes capability for playing video which is known that it can do. Whatever it is, I’m sure they’ll make tons and tons of money.

theyll probably launch it in late January early febuary. Everyone will recive new nanos and chepaer photo ipod for christmas and other holidays. Once everyone has opened their gift downloaded some tunes and used it for a few weeks theyll introduce the video ipod so everyone goes and buy one of them.

I hope video comes out soon… My 20GB 4th gen iPod is F*cked up, not working right anymore, I get all kinds of crazy errors when trying to put music on it, and when I had music on it, it wouldnt play and then erased everything….

can someone tell me what all the hype is about? if people wanted video playback they surely would have bought a player that would actually support it, right?

And in the states they obviously haven’t, since it’s all ipod over there… anyway, the day that an iPod actually gets superior to any other player, feature-wise, I’ll eat my shorts and barf up golden nuggets of digress . As I see it they have a roadmap of under-powering and over-marketing (which only helps put the states years behind any other developed country), and deviating from that would only cost them time and profits from all the technological stages in between. So you might just see an implementation of tiny Quicktime movies at very limited bitrates and with extremely tight security. But actual useable video? Not for a few years at leasts! And not before any other player has support for all major codecs in 640x480 with tv-out. But hey, USA is a totally different market than Europe I guess, so what might sound counter-intuitive to me, might me perfectly logical over there - sigh… Need I say “lack of competetion”? (where IS Archos and iRiver?) sorry, now I’m rambling

Last I looked, all that was being asked of the current generation of IPODs is that they play music (yeah, the picture thing is just a fad). They seem to do this just fine so I don’t know where you get the under powered and over hyped nonsense from (But I will agree with that regarding their computers). It is funny to see to see someone riddicule a product for doing the one thing it is supposed to do and very well I might add. Yep, it plays my music. It can voice record. Thats all I need. That is the core function of the IPOD. Don’t slam it because you are looking for one of those jack of all trades, master of none devices that you tout as better than the IPOD based on a list of features that not to many people ever really use.

I bought it to play music. It does that. I am happy
