BMW DriveNow service improves upon ZipCar in every way

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Transportation, Videos,

We've gotta hand it to BMW for launching the innovative DriveNow service in its hometown of Munich. If you thought ZipCar was good, wait til you hear about how DriveNow works. Check it:

  • The biggest feature is convenience. You pick up the car, and when you are done, you can leave it anywhere. No need to bring it back to a designated parking lot or garage. Just park it anywhere you find a spot, and you are done. An iPhone app tells you where the nearest available car is.
  • You sign up for the service and get a sticker that goes on your drivers license. That sticker becomes the key that unlocks the car, so you don't need anything extra to carry with you.
  • Gas usage is included in the price
  • Parking is free in within city limits

As we said, the service has launched in Munich with a fleet of 300 BMW and Mini Cooper vehicles, and we assume that if DriveNow is found to be successful, BMW will roll it out elsewhere.

Dancing With the Stars 12: Kirstie Alley Dropped, But Favorites Stay Strong

Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley looked beautiful together on Monday night’s Dancing With the Stars… until his leg gave out early on in the routine. The actress fell to the floor, the audience audibly gasped, and both performers quickly scrambled to their feet. The dance -- this week, it was the rumba -- was flawless after that. Watch the performance in the video above. The judges admired Alley’s spunk and quick recovery; they each awarded her a 7 as a balm.

VIDEO: Charlie Sheen Spoofs Himself

(WARNING: Explicit, uncensored language)

Charlie Sheen is recovering quickly from his terrible performance in Detroit in the best possible way: with humor. The actor has released a 7-minute spoof his 20/20 interview, and you can see the whole thing above.

We’ve watched it, and we think this version is better than the original -- which aired last month on ABC. Sheen seems unafraid to laugh at himself in the segment, sporting different T-shirts, over-using his catchphrases, even chain-smoking.

The video should do wonders for his comedy tour, which is going strong despite the Motor City flub.

And you thought Gary Busey was the most unstable contestant on Celebrity Apprentice (it’s okay -- we did, too). Meat Loaf proved on Sunday night’s episode that he takes his art seriously when he launched into an epic tirade against the actor… over sponges.

It took both Lil John and Mark McGrath to hold the Loaf back. You can see his entire meltdown in the video above. Somewhere, Gary Busey is still quivering in fear.

VIDEO: James Franco Blames Lackluster Oscars on Anne Hathaway

Speculation has run the gamut on James Franco’s uninspired Oscar performance. Some have claimed drugs were behind his sleepy delivery, while others have accused the co-host of simply not caring.

“People said I was under the influence,” Franco said on the Late Show with David Letterman. “I love her, but Anne Hathaway is so energetic, I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to [her].”

Fair point. “I never dreamed of being the best Oscar host ever… It doesn’t mean I didn’t care and it doesn’t mean I didn’t try hard, right?” James Franco asked.

Though some have accused the Academy Award nominee of exactly that. Watch Franco’s interview in the video above, and tell us if he’s managed to win you over yet.
