Beat DJSamsung has unveiled their oval shaped BeatDJ phone with a touchscreen Symbian interface. It also features a 400x240 AMOLED display, Bang & Olufsen sound system with amp, a 3-megapixel camera, GPS and tri-band 3G with HSPA. But the best part of the cellie is its DJ scratch mode that turns the touchscreen into a virtual turntable with effects that can be saved. No date or price has yet to be announced. Samsung will also be offering a DISC phone with slide out number pad and Omnia HD, both of which also have Symbian interfaces.

Samsung LapFit Series LCD Monitors

Samsung has unveiled their Synmaster LapFit series of LCD monitors. The LD190G (19-inches) and LD220G (22-inches) can be used with your laptop, notebook or netbook if you want a larger screen or with a smaller PC that doesn’t include one. Hook up to your USB port and it sits level with your PC. Both displays have a contrast ratio of 20000:1, a resolution of 1369x768 and a USB hub. No details have been released on availability and price.

Samsung YP-VP1 Voice Recorder/Camera

YP-VP1 Recorder/CamSamsung has a new YP-VP1 voice recorder that includes a built-in camera. Take a picture and use VoicePix to add a tag. Other features include voice detection, FM tuner and noise reduction. In a choice of black or silver, the YP-VP1 comes in a 2GB model with 520 recording hours in LP mode and a 4GB that can hold up to 1040 hours of audio. At this point, the device is only available in Korea but somehow it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see some in use at next year’s CES.

Amazon Cleans Up in Sales

Amazon logoWhile most retailers lost money this holiday season, Amazon is pleased to announce that they did just fine, thank you very much. Their best sellers included the Wii, the iPod touch and Samsung’s 52-inch LCD HDTV. They claim an increase of 17% (6.3 million items) on their busiest day, Dec.15. That is almost a million more than last year. Somehow we are not surprised as online shopping is so much easier now considering most of us can order what we want without the hassle of snow, nasty shoppers and crowded malls.

Samsung has unveiled new media processors for digital photo frames. The S5L2010 series can display 15 Mpixel JPEGs in less than 3 seconds. They are compatible with MPEG-1/2/4, Xvid, Motion JPEG, MP3, WMA, OGG and AAC files. Also incorporated is an ADC for touchscreen control, LCD backlight, an audio PWM 2 channel output, TV-Out, and a DVB-T interface. Samsung is now testing the technology that should be out in the Q1 2009.

Samsung BD-P2500 and P-2550 Feature Netflix in HD

And the Netflix/Blockbuster beat goes on. Samsung has announced that its BD-P2500 and BD-P2550 Blu-ray Players, as of the first week in December, will have access to movies and TV shows via Netflix in HD via a firmware update. While both models can already access over 12,000 videos, so far they have been in standard definition. At this point, there are 300 titles available in HD, with many more expected in the months to come.

The fridge is available for $3099.00 with a stainless steel finish, and also comes in platinum, black and white.

Samsung Epix i907 Starts Arriving At AT&T Stores

The new AT&T Samsung Epix i907 has been showing up in AT&T stores recently as expected.  The phone is basically a Blackjack, but benefits from a touch screen incorporating Haptic feedback, a QWERTY keyboard and optical mouse.  The phone uses Windows Mobile 6.1 for the Core OS and supports 850MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz HSDPA 3G networks and carries a built-in GPS.  The i907 also incorporates a microSD slot, 2 megapixel camera, and costs $199 with a 2 year contract.  If the isn’t your thing because tactile QWERTY keyboard is needed, this may be for you.

Samsung has unveiled its point and shoot HZ1 with a 24mm wide angle lens with 10x zoom. At a size of 105 x 61.4 x 36.5mm, the camera also features a 2.7-inch TFT LCD (230k pixels) and a movie mode of HD 720p resolution at 30 fps. Included in the package is Samsung’s Digital Contents Management with Perfect Portrait System, face and blink detection, smile shot, self-portrait, red eye fix, and beauty shot. With no price or availability details out yet, it made its debut at the Photokina show in Germany.
