2009 Grammy Award Winners

Lil’ Wayne may have had the most nominations going in, but he wasn’t the biggest winner coming out.

Next to Rihanna and Chris Brown, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss were the biggest newsmakers of the 51st Annual Grammy Awards. The collaboration between the Led Zeppelin lead singer and the bluegrass artist earned the duo five awards last night including Album of the Year for Raising Sand and Record of the Year. Prior to yesterday, Plant, 60, had only racked up one Grammy in his career. (Krauss, on the other hand, is now up to 26.)

Quite frankly, we have no clue what he said about anything…but it’s still fun to watch someone try to be deep with their commentary. Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake, Radiohead Join Grammy Lineup

With less than two weeks to go until the Grammys, the list of performers continues to grow longer.

Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I., and Justin Timberlake have just been added to the previously announced roster. Radiohead, up for five awards this year, will also give its first live U.S. television performance in 9 years.

Taylor Swift Comes Back to Beat Britney

Has the Britney Spears hype already died down?

Just one week after debuting at #1, the pop princess has already been dethroned. Unfortunately, Circus wasn’t topped by a new entry. Spears was actually surpassed by Taylor Swift.

Fearless, which has been out since November 11, jumped 23% over the last seven days. Swift sold 249,000 units besting Spears by 49,000. (Circus fell 60% from last week’s 505,000 achievement.) Beyonce’s release came in third during this round.

Jay-Z featuring Santogold with Brooklyn Go Hard

World AIDS day was the catalyst for the launch of (RED)WIRE, a digital music magazine raising funds to help combat AIDS in Africa. U2, Sheryl Crow and others have videos posted already, as does one Jay-Z. His latest video for the song “Brooklyn We Go Hard” is absolutely incredible and you are required to watch and listen to it multiple times.

Watch it because the incredible Typographic Illustration skills are from none other than Evan Roth, who was kind enough to include the source code in this video as well. Expect to here this track non-stop starting next month, as it’s included in the upcoming NOTORIOUS film. Yes, it’s produced by Kanye West but NO, there is not a single note of Auto-Tune in this track.

Okay, I am now beginning to believe all tracks from Kanye West‘s upcoming album 808s and Heartbreak will be leaked prior to the November 24 drop date. Case in point, the latest released track “Amazing” featuring Young Jeezy, which showed up today. True to the rest of the album, Kanye uses Auto-Tune technology and tears it up once again. Let’s face it, Kanye West has blown a lot of people away with the release of “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless” from his upcoming album 808s and Heartbreak. In case you haven’t heard it yourself, you can download Heartless for free.

This new album has already caused a lot of buzz as people have been commenting on the heavy usage of Auto-Tune and the dark vibe. Whether you like the tracks or not, there is no doubt this album is going to be unlike anything he has ever done before. In the “Heartless” video, Kanye is focusing on the visual aspect. “God knows I fought hard for the other side,” The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck admitted on-air. “Today is a victory for this country,” she even managed a smile. “No one lost today.” Her comments, a shade different than her rabid Republican rantings of episodes past, are similar to the words of other celebs who today are celebrating a page in history.
