Britney Spears Talks Candie’s Clothing Line
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News,
Britney Spears only wanted to design clothes she would wear herself.
The “3” singer, who has launched her first fashion line for Candie’s which will be sold Kohl’s department stores, says the outfits she created all reflect her personality and know they are something her fans would be eager to buy.
“I wanted to design clothes that I would wear and my fans would wear. That was the most important thing to me. I wanted to make both daytime casual looks and fun dresses to go out in at night. I met with the design team for Candie’s and Kohl’s, and we started making sketches and designed a line. I got to approve every single piece in the line. It was really a lot of fun. This collection really represents my personal style. I took pieces from my Circus tour and pieces that I wear every day. I love denim, so I made sure to include a lot of jeans. I can’t wait for it to come out.”
As well as jeans, the range feature leggings, skirts and oversized, slouchy tops. Britney says she had such fun creating the collection, she is keen to do another one in the near future: “I had such a blast designing this line and would love to do it again.”

Christopher Nolan Inspired by Classic Superman Film

Director Christopher Nolan is seeking inspiration from the 1978 Superman film.
Nolan, who is producing the upcoming Superman remake alongside his brother Jonah Nolan and David S. Goyer, revealed he aspires to achieve the same success as filmmaker Richard Donner did in the very first adaptation of the comic book story.
“I was hugely struck by the Donner films in the ‘70s when I was a kid. In 1978 I saw Superman and it had such an epic scope to it. It took on this incredible, iconic figure and gave that iconic figure an appropriate framing. It made quite an impression on me. It’s definitely one of my childhood touchstones on what epic cinema can be.”

Growing Up, Music Inspires Miley Cyrus Wardrobe

Provocative dresser Miley Cyrus’ style is influenced by music she finds inspirational.
The 17-year-old singer-and-actress has caused controversy in recent months with her raunchy stage outfits, her music video for “Can’t Be Tamed” and her cover for the album of the same name but her stylist insists it’s just a “natural progression.”
“Miley’s style is a natural progression of her growing up and being influenced by the music that inspires her. The album cover was basically a strong statement saying in the most simple way, that she can’t be tamed - literally and metaphorically,” said Simone Harouche.

Why Roberto Cavalli Began Designing Clothes
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, Models, News,
Roberto Cavalli became a fashion designer after making love to a pretty model.
The Italian style legend admits his first ever runway show was “terrible” because he was preoccupied with one of his female catwalk stars. “It was terrible. It wasn’t designing. I chose a pretty shy model and, of course, I make love with her. That was why I start to be in fashion,” he said, discussing his first show in Paris, France, in 1970.
Roberto decided to turn to art, and then fashion, after being urged by his mother to make up his mind on what career path to follow: “When I was 18, my mother said, ‘Roberto, you should go look for a job.’ I decided art was the only thing I would maybe like. I wanted a sports car and to enjoy life. I knew the more sweaters I printed, the more money I’d make.”
Roberto got his big break in the industry after discovering a unique six-color technique for printing on leather. “I showed people at Hermes in Paris. They wanted exclusivity on my idea. I thought, ‘If my idea is revolutionary, I should get to know the fashion world. I didn’t know anything about fashion, but thought it could be fun.”

Thom Browne Steps Into Womenswear
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Women,
Thom Browne has created his first full womenswear collection.
The men’s designer has dabbled in female fashion before - selling a capsule range in Barneys New York in 2007 and 2008 - but has now branched out by making a new line.
“This time I have more time to focus on it. For September, it will be a bit bigger than before, with more styles within the categories, but very focused. In the next couple seasons it will become a fully developed collection.”
The collection will sell at Barneys New York, Colette and 10 Corso Como Seoul and The Thom Browne shop. For the range, Brown has been inspired by his menswear roots, which he has incorporated into the clothes.
“It’s very focused on jackets and trousers and outerwear. I think it’s what people expect from me, very men’s-inspired women’s clothing. Grey flannel, navy cashmere. Good, all-American men’s wear influence, but fitting in a cool feminine way. I want it to be very understandable. Personally, when I see it on the girls I think it looks so good. I like the idea of men’s tailoring on girls. It’s very strong and sexy in a non-overt way.”
Nicole Richie Makes Handbags From Hats

Talk about creative—Nicole Richie turns hats into handbags.
The reality star - who is currently promoting her House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate Fall/Winter 2010 fashion ranges - says she often gets inspired by seeing what other people are wearing and then giving items her own unique twist.
“I was walking around the other day and I saw this woman wearing this great hat and I thought actually that’d make a really good bag so we turned it upside down and now it’s a great looking bag.”
Nicole - who has two children, Harlow, two, and nine-month-old Sparrow with fiance Joel Madden - also revealed she has had to alter her dress sense since becoming a mother to make it practical yet still stylish: “I’m a busy working mother. I’m all for what’s comfortable but I don’t think people today make enough effort with what they wear. At the same time I don’t want to have to get out of bed early to decide what to put on. My jackets are my favorite part of my collection because you can just throw one on over jeans and a vest and it looks like you’ve made an effort.”
Vanessa Paradis Inspired By Other French People

The new face of Chanel handbags, Vanessa Paradis, says French women inspire each other to be stylish.
The actress - who was raised in the suburbs of Paris - doesn’t think France’s capital is any more fashionable than other cities, it’s just that their way of life makes their clothes more accessible.
“I don’t think French women have more style. Maybe it’s because Paris is a city where you walk in. In America, everyone drives, and you cannot see what anyone is wearing when they are locked in a car. Here, everyone checks out each other. We communicate with clothes here more and, as a result, inspire one another.”
The 37-year-old beauty, who is a favorite of Karl Lagerfeld, also revealed how she has given up smoking to help stop the ageing process: “I quit smoking roll-ups, which helps enormously; that’s it. I do drink lots of water, though I like wine - Bordeaux.”
Karl Lagerfeld Loves Georgia May Jagger

Karl Lagerfeld says Georgia Jagger is the perfect choice to model Chanel.
The creative director of the renowned fashion house was hugely impressed when the 18-year-old rising catwalk star modeled Chanel‘s Cruise 2010 Saint-Tropez collection in Cannes last week and thinks it is the start of successful working union.
He told Vogue UK, “Miss Jagger is the modern girl. She is the girl of today. There is a total identification between her and the clothes. They could be her clothes. She is totally at home in Chanel. And that fits in the pattern of what Saint-Tropez can represent, what it is not really and yet what it can inspire.”
Georgia - the daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger and former model Jerry Hall - walked the catwalk in front of a star-studded audience, which included Vanessa Paradis, Diane Kruger and Lady Amanda Harlech.
The British Model of the Year also appears in the lookbook for the new collection.

Jessica Simpson‘s new fragrance is “provocative.”
The singer-and-actress is releasing her third scent, entitled Fancy Nights, and says it is the perfect perfume to wear on an evening out: “It is a deeper, richer scent - more provocative.”
The spicy scent includes warm notes of bergamot and Egyptian papyrus blended with Indonesian patchouli, Bulgarian red rose and night-blooming jasmine, and Jessica believes it showcases a different side to her personality. She told People, “A fragrance can lead you deeper into a mood. Fancy Nights gives me the chance to express a more romantic side of my personality.”
The 29-year-old beauty’s last fragrance, Fancy Love, was inspired by being in a romantic relationship. The fragrance was inspired by love. And she’s inspired by love.”
