Real Wall-E appears in Los Angeles

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Disney, Adventure, Animation, Family, Comedy, Upcoming Releases,
Pixar‘s Wall-E is set to hit theaters in just a little over a month, so you just know that the hype is set to ramp up leading up to the opening, right? Leave it up to Pixar to take a rusty, old, childish robot and make it so cute that we immediately buy into it and start posting videos of its appearance around town. I mean, just watching the video above, don’t you just feel like you have to adopt the little guy and take him home? I’m betting this will be my favorite Pixar movie since Monsters Inc. How about you? You anticipating this one?

More Bad Press for Miley Cyrus

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Cable, Gossip,
It’s a long way down from the top of the pedestal, and young tween idol Miley Cyrus is finding out just how tough that topple can be.
Rock ‘n roll group Lustra has fingered Cyrus for borrowing a little too heftily from their song “Scotty Doesn’t Know” (from the Eurotrip soundtrack) for her tune “Rockstar.”
“Although we are very flattered that Ms. Cyrus took this route, we would have preferred some credit,” guitarist Nick Cloutman told the press. The band, according to Cloutman, is “considering various options to rectify this situation.” As far as I can see, all those options will probably melt down into just one: a very quiet and tidy little settlement - anything to stop the bad reports in the media.
“She doesn’t write the songs - she sings them. We have referred this to Disney,” one of Miley’s reps responded to the news. And Disney, make no mistake, has the best lawyers money can buy.

Flogos Take Off

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Misc. Tech, Science,

Francisco Guerra, a special effects whiz with the company Snowmasters, has come up with a fine alternative to ugly billboards. His idea, named Flogos, are foamy clouds that can be as large as four feet across and shaped like logos. He does this with a machine that creates and slices them, similar to the Fun Factory used for Play-doh. Because they are made of tiny air-filled bubbles combined with helium, they are also good for the environment. One Flogo can go as far as 30 miles and as high as 20,000 feet, in as little as 15 seconds. The Flogo Machine has already caught the attention of Disney, who will be using one at Florida’s Walt Disney World next month to send Mickey Heads over the park.

Christian Coalition Upset with Miley Cyrus Photos

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Movies, Music, Television, Child Stars, Editorials,

As you’ve probably all heard by now, controversy has arisen from Miley Cyrus’ recent photo shoot for Vanity Fair. Some of the pics - taken by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz - show a topless Miley draped by a sheet. (You can see a behind-the-scenes photo above.)
Although she see seemed fine with how things were going at the time, the singer is now apparently “embarrassed” by the results. (Methinks Disney‘s disapproval had something to do with that ounce of regret.)
Of course, it didn’t take very long for the Christian Coalition to jump on the bandwagon and offer up their two cents on the matter. The organization doesn’t feel like a written apology from the 15-year-old is quite enough. They believe the star should be reprimanded by her bosses and be forced to hold a press conference. “If she’s gonna go out there and represent wholesome values, she needs to be more accountable for her actions.”

Disney Channel Games To Begin This Week in Orlando

Walt Disney World’s Wide World of Sports will be the center of the known tween world this week when The Disney Channel Games kick off tomorrow in Orlando.
Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, the Cheetah Girls and the ubiquitous Sprouse brothers from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody are among Disney stars continental and international who will compete this week with winnings going to charity.
Tuesday and Thursday production will be free and open to the public, albeit in a very limited way. Disney officials told the Orlando Sentinel, “We can’t have regular kids on the field.” That is due in part to the fact that the games aren’t really a sporting event, it’s more like a series of reality TV challenges. Footage shot this week will culminate in five half-hour shows that debut in late July on the Disney Channel.

Miley Cyrus: Embarrassed By Vanity Fair Photo Spread

Tween idol and star of Disney’s juggernaut Hannah Montana says she is embarrassed by photos taken for the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair.
In a statement issued Sunday through her publicist 15-year-old Miley Cyrus said, “I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”
The spread, shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, included the above photo of a natural looking Cyrus seemingly naked save for a silky sheet. Cyrus’ statement said she thought the photo shoot was supposed to be artistic but after seeing the photos and reading the accompanying story featuring Miley and her father, singer Billy Ray Cyrus, she feels “embarrassed”.

Miley Cyrus Signs Book Deal

Sick of Miley Cyrus yet? Disney sure isn’t.
Having already conquered the small screen and broken box office records for the big screen, the uber-successful pop star has recently signed a seven-figure deal with Disney-Hyperion, probably the most any fifteen year-old has been paid to write a book.
As if Disney hasn’t used and abused their Hannah Montana cash cow enough, the book is set to release in 2009, right about when the movie will premiere. Oh how I love Disney’s avariciousness.
