EyePet

Recently announced at the Leipzig Game Conference in Germany, Sony showed off its newest virtual buddy. The EyePet works with the camera attachment on the Playstation 3. When you see it on screen, you can play with it. Roll a ball and the EyePet will chase it. We guess that this would be okay for little ones, although unaware parents might wonder why their kids are touching their monitors so much. The virtual critter should become available late 2009.

Crime Map

The Metropolitan Police in London have created a computer crime-mapping beta website. With it, users can find local cops, report a crime, and learn about crime prevention, victim support, and details of their local baddies. The Google mapping system also allows for detailed information on number, rate, and other crime figures by zeroing in on specific neighborhoods with a postal code search. While this sounds all well and good on

While we find the timepiece moderately amusing, we would have preferred that instead of simply rolling his eyes, he drooled a bit and, when the minute hand reached 12, moaned “Beer..” With a 1 year warranty, the Homer Clock is available at your local Quicky Mart or online for £12.95 (~$25.25.)

iPhoneWhile many camped out in the U.S. for a chance to be one of the first grab the sacred iPhone, there might have been a slight hesitancy on the part of Poland to do likewise. So, according to their largest mobile carrier Orange, actors were paid to stand in line.

“We have these fake queues at front of 20 stores around the country to drum up interest in the iPhone,” a spokesperson said.  Their thinking is that buyers there may not have sufficient funding to splurge on the expensive device. There were none paid to hang at the T-Mobile Era stores, however.
