Apple CEO Tim Cook gave his first televised interview to "Rock Center with Brian WIlliams" and it aired yesterday evening. Cook covered controversial topics like the Apple Maps gaffe, Samsung litigation, Foxconn, and the lack of US manufacturing of Apple products. Additionally, Tim makes interesting comments about the future of television, an area where Apple now has "an intense interest," a definite upgrade from being called just a "hobby" by the company. Part 1 of the interview is above, and you'll find Part 2, along with the full transcript, after the break.

T-Mobile inks deal to sell Apple iPhone in 2013
Posted by Jason Diaz Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Corporate News,

It appears that T-Mobile US parent company, Deutsche Telekom, brokered a deal with Apple that will see T-Mobile carry and sell Apple products in 2013. The writing was on the wall, as this was the last of the four major US carriers to carry the iconic iPhone and iPad. The news is still developing and Apple has yet made any public announcements.
"In addition, T-Mobile USA has entered into an agreement with Apple to bring products to market together in 2013." - T-Mobile
Of course, the only Apple "products" that T-Mobile would sell would be the iPhone and iPad.

AnoStyle lets you add unique style to your iPhone and iPad mini
Posted by Jason Diaz Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Design, Handhelds,

Want to trick out your iPhone or iPad mini? The folks at AnoStyle are ready to hook you up, allowing you to do away with the black & slate or white & silver backing on these devices. The process of anodizing is similar to how Apple adds those colors to the iPhone 5 and the entire Mac lineup. Yet, with AnoStyle, they offer a much wider pallet of colors to choose from. The process takes about a week and costs $249 for the iPhone and $299 for the iPad mini. For those that are wondering, it does void your warranty on the device. Andru Edwards color scheming his iDevices to Gear Live orange is now a go!

Apple has just released iWork update 9.3, which brings support to the desktop versions of Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for the iWork for iOS 1.7 apps. We haven't seen the iOS version updates hit the App Store yet, but given the release of the iWork for Mac update, those should be available shortly. You can get the update by checking Software Update on your Mac. iWork 9.3 is recommended for users of iWork 9.0 and later when using OS X Lion v10.7.4 and above.

2012 Holiday Gift Guide: Apple TV
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, HDTV, Home Entertainment, Family, Men, Techies, Under $100, Under $25, Under $250, Under $500,
iOS devices like the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch will be big holiday gifts this year, make no mistake about it. The Apple TV is actually a fantastic complement to Apple's handhelds, worthy of being featured in our 2012 Holiday Gift Guide. A nice little device in its own right, the Apple TV gives you access to Apple's iTunes Store entertainment content right on your television. In addition, you get Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, sports networks, and plenty of other entertainment options. Connect it to your iTunes Home Share, and you can use your iOS devices as remote controls for the Apple TV. The best part, though, is AirPlay. You can beam audio and video content right to the Apple TV with ease from your iOS device, or your Mac. You can also mirror the display of these devices as well, all wireless over your home network.
You can pick up the Apple TV for $99, or $94.95 on Amazon.
Honorable Mention: Roku 2 XS Streaming Player

2012 Holiday Gift Guide: Monopoly zAPPed
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, Toys, Family, Techies, Under $100, Under $250, Under $50, Under $500,
Next up in our 2012 Holiday Gift Guide is Monopoly zAPPed, a full-fledged verion of Monopoly that can also be considered an iPad accessory. There are gonna be a lot of iPads and iPad minis under the tree this year, and if you already know someone who owns one (or who will own one this holiday season,) consider this game as a fun gift for them. The game is played with an iPhone or iPad with two to four players, and is different from tradtional Monopoly in that the device (iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone) is the bank and there are on-screen mini games. Also, there is no money, as you just swipe your credit card on the display for transactions. Included in the box are the game board with rubber pads, 6 tokens, 28 Property cards, 32 green houses, 12 red hotels, 2 dice, 4 Monopoly Touch-banking cards and instructions. Watch every Apple commercial from 1977-2012
Posted by Jason Diaz Categories: Apple, Smartphones, PC / Laptop, Portable Audio / Video, Videos,

Speaking of marketing, watch every Apple commercial from 1977 to present day. There's about 485 commercials, which includes the famous Mac vs PC, the technicolored hipster iPod dance ads and, of course, the iconic 1984 Macintosh SuperBowl spot directed by Sir Ridley Scott. One of my favorites, the first iPhone ad 'Surprised' from 2007.

Marketing Samsung Galaxy Devices visualized
Posted by Jason Diaz Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Corporate News,

There's a high cost for making Samsung Galaxy devices. Horace Dediu, from Asymco, breaks down the math and visualizes them into nifty graphs. There's no question that the mobile Galaxy line embedded with Android has been a success for the South Korean conglomerate but, apparently, it comes at a cost of marketing the products. Sales, general and administrative (SG&A), is part of the equation being extrapolated for the results for past trends from 2009 to 2012. In other words, Samsung basically spends roughly four times more on marketing than its most rival mobile competitor. A good marketing example is seeing a payed advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy S III at the top of the Twitter Trend. Or those now infamous "Next Big Thing is Here" commercials basically trolling Apple customers at a line for a faux launch.
