Microsoft Launches New Commercials

Thank goodness Microsoft realized how silly their latest Seinfeld/Gates TV ads are and have moved on to the next phase of “Life Without Walls” in new ads, billboards, and other media sources. The company will also be launching Web and TV ads called the “Real PC,” using both celebs and “little people” who declare “I’m a PC.” We certainly hope that this commercial blitz is more successful. By the way, we just caught one. No Seinfeld, just Gates. Take your last look.

What do we love about the Internet? That the incredibly gifted group Tally Hall can become such a hit on YouTube with their Internet Show that they made it all the way to the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. You go, guys!
What do we not love about the Internet? That commercial companies such as Procter & Gamble come up with a lame website and competition to get normally intelligent people to devise the next greatest catch phrase for Crest Whitening Expressions after Emeril Lagasse’s “Bam!”

It took SNL to finally pin it down, and share with the nation why everyone should be very careful with who they choose to put on their five. Oh, and don’t even get us started on the MySpace Top 8. Be afraid.

Dasur’s ThumbKey claims to be the answer to your QWERTY keyboard frustration with your handheld. It identifies intended keys through size and position of fingers rather than being spot on. Algorithms process the typed letters. All this sounds like a good thing because the letters look tiny in the video (where it is referred to as ThumbIt.) It has word recognition by using only the first few letters and supports all versions of Microsoft Windows Mobile. The ThumbKey will set you back $25.00 or you can download a demo for fifteen days free to test it out.

Luxeed Dynamic Pixel LED Keyboard

For those who want more color in their lives, Luxeed’s Dynamic Pixel LED Keyboard should do the trick. With 430 LEDs, each key can light up when you press it or you can get a wide variety of lighting settings that can be saved on four preset buttons. The keyboard comes in black or white at a size of 15 x 7.5 x 1-inch and has a standard USB connection. Compatible with Windows XP/Vista, Mac or Linux users can get the keyboard but will have no effects. The Luxeed peripheral will set you back $199.99 and if you want a matching keypad that doesn’t light up, it is an additional $34.99. Frankly, they make us a bit dizzy.

Here’s what we are thinking. Not to like Star Wars is practically like being anti-American. But the thing that is best about the series is how the fantasy is made better by turning it into a reality. But in this new movie, even Yoda is a bit too creepy. If you haven’t yet seen the trailer for Clone Wars, take a peek, and decide for yourself if it is worth paying outrageous ticket and popcorn prices to see on its August 15 debut. We think we may wait for the video to come out and catch another screening of Wall-E.

Google has finally launched Lively to try to lure some of those Second Lifers away. The site utilizes avatars and 3D graphics like the other virtual game, and meeting rooms for characters. After the download, you can also display YouTube videos on virtual TVs and show photos in virtual frames. Engineering Manager Niniane Wang wants subscribers to create their rooms in their own interests.
“If you enter a Lively room embedded on your favorite blog or website, you can immediately get a sense of the room creator’s interests, just by looking at the furniture and environment they chose.”
Note that you have to have Windows Vista/XP with Internet Explorer or Firefox to subscribe. We can’t anticipate its success but we did notice that the demo on YouTube already has received over half a million hits.
