We have a a mouse that looks like a mouse, and mouse pads with hubs, so it is only logical that someone came up with a 4-port hub that looks like a mouse. The plug and play USB 2.0 peripheral comes in pink, green, yellow, or blue and its four
hubs can move 90º for flexibility. Weighing only 52g, the mouse supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac OSX and Linux and comes with a price of $12.00.

Vahakn Matossian’s Boomboy

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Design, Misc. Tech, Music, Portable Audio / Video,
Vahakn Matossian’s Boomboy can hang on my desk top any time. The loudspeaker is hand carved from walnut and has a bass duct running through his body and a Bowers & Wilkins driver. The prototype holds a pencil in his little fist, but you can substitute a cable or some earbuds. Vahakn claims he has a “loud voice and naughty temperament, slight drinking habit, good with the ladies.” We can vouch for the latter, although we wonder if the designer was describing himself.

How this Glowing Electrical Socket Helps Save Energy

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Design, Smart Home, Misc. Tech,
It’s happened to all of us….you leave for work, and an hour later you’re paralyzed with fear, as you can’t remember if you left the iron plugged in or not. Not so with the Glowing Electrical Socket, which glows a lovely pink color when said outlet is drawing a current! It’s actually a very eco-friendly device, as you are reminded that some of your electronics may be plugged in unnecessarily – and therefore wasting energy. Plus it has an LED, which alerts you when the current is actually growing stronger. And if don’t want the socket to glow, there’s a button to turn that feature off. What’s not to love? Unfortunately, we could not find pricing info, so stay tuned….

Take a Stab at the Knife-Proof T-Shirt

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Wearables, Design, Misc. Tech,
We’ve brought you other crime-prevention apparel and gadgets in the past, such as the No-Contact Jacket and the Cell Phone Stun Gun. Joining the ranks is the meshy Knife-Proof T-Shirt. It’s made of “ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene fiber”—akin to the “aramid fiber” used to create body armor. With that caliber of fabric, we’re pleasantly surprised to learn the tee is also machine washable. The potentially life-saving tee will be available in Japan during June in both a short-sleeve ($190-$522 USD) and long-sleeve ($220-$590 USD) versions. However, the manufacturer, Nihon Uni, does not seem to have a website to order from.
