IOGEAR’s Pocket Drive is Really an SD Card Reader

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, USB, Storage,
Say you have an SD card full of photos, music, videos or files, but you—or whomever you wish to share those files with—doesn’t own an SD card reader. This probably happened to someone, and that ingenious someone invented Iogear’s USB Pocket SD Reader/Writer. Just insert the SD card and it’s now a bona fide thumb drive, able to read and write files. The drive has up to 480 Mbps data transfer rate, and works with both Windows and Mac. Also available for Micro and Mini SD cards, Rs-mmc, and (hello PSP’ers!) MS-Duo cards. Prices range from $9.97 to $12.97.

Lensbaby 3G In-depth Review

Posted by Sparky Categories: Accessories, Cameras, Design, Features, Product Reviews,

So obviously, we at Gear Live are fans of new camera technology and the selective focus Lensbabies SLR lenses certainly fit the bill. We were already familiar with their selective focus lenses for digital cameras in the form of their second generation (2G) Lensbaby, but they were kind enough to provide us with one of their brand new 3G Lenbabies for review.
The Lensbaby is a bellows style lens for modern SLR cameras. They feature low dispersion multi-coated optical glass lens mounted within a flexible rubber tube to allow the photographer to tilt the lens side to side as well as compress it closer to the camera. Much like cameras from 100 years ago or more focusing is accomplished by simply compressing the bellows to move the lens closer or further away from the camera. We have a full, in-depth review for you, after the break.

Tunebuckle: iPod nano Belt Buckle

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Wearables, Design, Portable Audio / Video,

We love gadgets where the coolness factor almost outweighs its functionality. A case in point is the Tunebuckle, a slate grey canvas belt…with a buckle that conveniently stores your iPod nano. The belt comes in one universal size, so you’ll have to cut the belt with a scissor to determine how long or short you want it to be (just don’t gain any weight after cutting it!). The Tunebuckle comes in three different styles, including the Full Metal Jacket, which covers the entire nano in case you have a dress code to adhere to. And don’t worry, when you take the belt off, your nano will still be encased. Available now for $59.99.

No More Dangling Headphone Cords with Cordgo

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Design, Portable Audio / Video,
We saw this product at the recent DigitalLife technology expo in New York, and have been kicking ourselves since for not buying one. So we’re thrilled the Internet reunited us with the Cordgo Cord Control, a small container for wrapping anything with a long 3mm cord: your MP3 headphones, USB cables, cellphone headsets, etc. Just wrap said cord around Cordgo to the length you want, clip it to your jeans, backpack, etc. and your good to go. You can adjust the cord at any time, and store it within Cordgo when you’re done. No more dangling excess cords, no more tangling, no more wrapping the cord around your iPod when you turn it off. Right now, it’s buy one get one free, so click on over and score a couple.

Verbatim Introduces 12GB Store ‘n’ Go Pocket Drive

Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, USB, Storage,
As we store increasing amounts of music, photos, videos and software on our computers, the need for larger-capacity pocket drives continues to grow. Verbatim’s Store ‘n’ Go throws down the gauntlet, storing a whopping 12GB on a drive smaller than 3 inches high by 1.4 inches wide. The mini hard drive has a flip-out USB connector, and is compatible with most Windows, Mac and Linux systems. It even includes software such as Skype, AOL Instant Messenger and an email program, all of which can be run from the drive itself, and therefore can be used on any PC that connects to the internet. Priced at $179, look for the Store ‘n’ Go to hit retailers in the next few weeks.

As if playing Wii Sports wasn’t realistic enough, the folks at Performance Designed Products have taken it to the next level with the Nerf Sports Pack, introduced at the 2007 Toy Fair in New York last week.
