Lexar JumpDrive Secure II PlusWe’re not sure exactly how necessary this is, but we love it anyway: it’s ‘s Secure II Plus, a USB flash drive which has a meter on it that shows how much space you have left. Sure, you can obtain the same information with just a few clicks of the mouse—but the meter is way cooler and slightly quicker. The JumpDrive Secure II Plus is also encrypted, as you might have guessed by now, and you can set passwords for different files. The JumpDrive is available in capacities up to 4GB, with prices starting at $20 for the 512 MB model.

TV Timer We recently told you about Best NetGuard, which allows parents to control when and how long their kids spend time online, with just the push of a button. Now we present the similarly-themed TV Timer, which lets you set up to three TV viewing (or video game-playing) periods per day—and is controlled by a PIN number you’ve set. How does it work? Simply connect the TV’s plug into the Timer, then screw it in with a hex key to “lock” it. Plug the Timer into an outlet, set up the viewing times and PIN and you’re done! The one catch is that the device is only available through a British website—so it only accepts European plugs. We hope the makers create a US version soon. The TV Timer is available for 24.95 pounds.

visomate

Thanko has released a gadget that lets you know when you are slumping in front of your computer. The Visomate Attitude Reform plugs into your USB port and lets you know if your posture is poor of if you are sitting too close to the monitor. You can choose from a blinking LED or an equally obnoxious audio alarm. Find the Visomate at the Rare Mono Shop for 2,980 Yen (~$24.00.) I’m not sure that the gadget will improve our sitting habits, so maybe we will wait until they include a back massager in the deal.

Avis ConnectThere may be a little less travel rage when stranded in a strange town. Avis has initiated a service that, for a fee of $10.95 a day, will transmit a Wifi signal to your laptop or other mobile device. Developed by Autonet Mobile, it will keep you informed on car rentals, hotels, and hot spots that you might visit during your next business trip or vacation.

Avis Connect is debuting at San Francisco International Airport and will move on to other large city airports by Q3 of this year. For some reason, the company has yet to release online just which network it is working with, but we figure they are waiting until Hertz first creates a service just like it.

USB Mini-FridgeThe latest gadget from USB.brando keeps your Coke cool while you are working on your PC. The USB Mini-Fridge is 14.9 x 9 x 9 cm and decreases the temperature of your soda by 8.5% after 5 minutes. It also features an LED light and being the USB gadget that it is, trades plug-and-play for batteries. You can find it online for $33.00. While we think the idea is literally a cool one, our clumsiness may keep us from actually test-driving this one.

Magic RingtoneSo we told you about Horntones, which allows you to change your car’s horn to any sound or song in MP3 format. Sounds fun but potentially dangerous and chaotic. Here’s something similar but a lot safer: a device called Magic Ringtone allows you to change your home phone’s ring to that of any MP3 sound. Just transfer the file from your PC to the device via USB, then attach your landline phone. Now instead of an generic ring, you can choose a babbling brook or a babbling Britney to alert you of incoming calls. We especially love the low cost of $12 USD, but apparently so does everyone else, as the Magic Ringtone is currently sold out. Stay tuned…
