iPhone Speakers Provided by Logic3
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Apple, Handhelds, Music, Portable Audio / Video,

Logic3 has come up with what they claim to be the iPhone’s first speaker system. In black gloss with silver trim, the i-Station Traveller measures 170 mm across, has a 4 watt output, and 35 mm neodymium drivers. It works with your phone vertically and horizontally, and comes with adapter and four AAA batteries. The speakers will be available for £29.99 (~$59.40) through retailers or Logic3’s online store. Because the i-Station is compatible with other media players through its 3.5 mm jack, it begs the question, which came first, the iPhone or the i-Station?

PalmGuard Gives Your Mac a Rest
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Apple, PC / Laptop,

The PalmGuard by moshi is a wear-resistant film for Apple MacBooks and MacBook Pros palm rests. Made of a high-grade polymer, the cover is bubble-free and splash proof and will protect your Mac from smudges, scratches, and grease. It also comes with a static film track pad and is available online for $20.00 for the Palmguard 13, $23.00 for the 15, and $28.00 for the 17. We wonder if it is also chocolate proof as we have a tendency towards munching on M & Ms during some of our late night activities at the keyboard.

Geek Chic: The Space Invaders Bag
Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Wearables, Video Games,

Ok, this writer is just going to admit it: in addition to goofy USB items and off-kilter (or useful) iPod docks, she has developed an obsession with anything recently retro, waxing nostalgic about doo-dads that remind her of the 70s or 80s. Case in point: Rockza’s Space Invaders Bag, made of PVC (translation: faux leather), and decorated with rows of the scurrying aliens. Oddly missing are the four protective “shelter blocks” and cannon, but we’ll let it go. Unfortunately, the bag is only available in Korea for 42,000 Korean Won ($45 USD). But let’s hope the trend comes stateside, as we think a Centipede version would look really cool, in a geeky sort of way.

We’ve always been fascinated by Swiss Army Knives (don’t ask), and we’re quite taken with this one because it not only takes the cake—it can slice it all kinds of ways! Wenger’s Giant Swiss Army Knife contains a whopping 87 useable instruments, for over 100 functions. Need a double-cut wood saw? Check. Golf club face cleaner? Check. Cigar cutter? Check. Screwdriver for gunsights? Check. A laser pointer? Check. And on and on. The Wenger, which is 9"W, is actually meant to be a collector’s item, which sort of explains the exorbitant $1025 USD price tag. Too bad, because we’d love to fiddle around with it for a few hours. We’ll just make do with the slightly smaller USB version instead. The Wenger is currently unavailable for purchase.

USB Dance Mat Lets Your Fingers do the Dancing
Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, USB, PC / Laptop, Toys,

Whether you love, loathe or simply don’t get Dance Dance Revolution and its brethren, we think you’ll find this item as zany and amusing as we do. It’s the USB Dance Mat, which plugs into your computer and allows you to play DDR—with your fingers. The mat’s arrows light up randomly to the beat (a soundtrack is included), which your fingers “dance” to. The longer you last, the faster the music. It even comes with a cut-out dancer to fit over your fingers, for added silliness. You can choose a 30 or 60 second game, and there’s even a counter to track your moves. We would definitely hold mini-DDR competitions in our cubicle, if it weren’t for that whole pink slip thing. Available for $18 USD.

The Non-Nike Sport Kit for iPod
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Accessories, Apple, Wearables, Portable Audio / Video,
About a year ago, Nike released the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, which has a built-in pocket to keep your treasure close at hand
foot. Unfortunately, you have to buy the not-so-inexpensive Nike+shoes to go with it. Our kudos to Grantwood Technology who designed a neoprene Shoe Pouch that will work in Reeboks, Keds, New Balance, and many other brands. It matches the sensor alignment, covers it, then comes up and attaches throught the laces. The company claims that it has already saved over $2 1/2 million for its customers. Available in 8 different colors, and at only $6.99 per insert, this definitely makes you want to “Just Do It.”

The EZKey Mouse Has Got Your Number(s)
Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, PC / Laptop, Peripherals,

If you’re a laptop-carrying number-cruncher on the road a lot, you probably long for your desktop computer’s numeric pad. Well, we’ve found a peripheral for you. It’s the EZKey, a two-button scroll mouse - that is, until its plastic casing is flipped up. At that point, it becomes a numeric keypad, perfect for all your arithmetic needs. Looks a tad bulky, and frankly, we’re not convinced it’s ergonimcally-correct. But sometimes it’s all about convenience, right? The EZKey is not available yet and there’s no word on pricing, but we think it’s a gadget worth keeping an eye on.

The Wonder Woman Bracelet: Coolest Accessory Ever?
Posted by Lolita Beckwith Categories: Accessories, Wearables,

Whether you grew up on the now-campy “Wonder Woman” TV series, read the DC comic or just a fan of Diana Prince’s all that-ness, we’ve got something for you. Yes, it’s the Wonder Woman bracelet! While the cuff won’t deflect bullets like Wonder Woman’s did (we assume), it’s a cool-as-hell accessory, bound to elicit smiles and conversations. The bracelet is 6"long, and fully adjustable. Not surprisingly, the cuff is currently on backorder, at $25 USD. Invisible plane not included.
