Since I still have the unopened book sitting next to my bed, I have not yet been immersed into the world of . But those who have read the Stephenie Meyer novel talk about it as fondly as I once did about The Lost Boys. Now that I’ve finally gotten around to seeing the trailer, I realize I better start studying up on the Bella/Edward drama soon.

What do the rest of you think? Does this clip live up to your expectations?

Preview Filth and Wisdom: Madonna’s Directorial Debut

Although is currently in the middle of her Sticky & Sweet Tour, the overactive 50-year-old is weeks away from launching her directorial debut.

Filth and Wisdom - also co-written and produced by the singer - was filmed on location in London last year. The movie, which has received mixed reviews since premiering at the Berlin Film Festival, focuses on three flatmates who “must delve into mischievous and naughty behavior in pursuit of bigger and brighter futures.”


Filth - starring Eugene Hütz, Holly Weston and Vicky McClure - opens in limited release starting October 17.

New Valkyrie Trailer

Weeks after being placed on the 2008 calendar, MGM has released a second trailer for . The movie - which as received a lot of press for all the wrong reasons - stars Tom Cruise as a German officer plotting to take down Hitler. Unfortunately, those still hoping for a hint of an accent (like I was) or any deviation from the star’s Mission Impossible persona may still be disappointed by this new clip.


Tell us what you think. Is it wrong for me to expect an Oscar-nominated actor - someone who at least attempted an accent in Far and Away - to sound less like an action star?

Valkyrie, also starring Terence Stamp, Kenneth Branagh and , opens December 26.


Vaughn and Favreau Reunite on Couples Retreat

Vince Vaughn and Jon FavreauReal-life buds and Vince Vaughn are scheduled to reunite this fall in a comedy for Universal. Since hitting it big with their 1996 hit, Swingers, the two have collaborated on several projects (Made, The Break-Up) together.

In the Favreau-penned Couples Retreat, four couples will go on a supposedly romantic vacation to a tropical resort. Although only one pair arrives with the intent of fixing their marriage, the other husbands and wives are forced to participate in the island’s therapy sessions. and Faizon Love (Elf) are also lined up for the project.

Filming on Retreat begins this October. After production wraps, Jon will then being preparations for the next installment.

Favreau and Vaughn can also be seen this November 26 in Four Christmases, a festive film co-starring . A trailer for that comedy can be seen after the jump.

Back in July, we told you the Clerks director was having difficulty securing an R-rating for his new film. Although Smith has since successfully appealed, he’s also been forced to rework his movie’s poster.

In Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks star as financially-strapped roomies. When the two find themselves in desperate straits, they decide to produce their own adult films.

The new promo recently created for the comedy can be seen above. The original ad rejected by the Motion Picture Association of America can be seen after the jump.

MIchael Moore Offers Free Online Film

Slacker Uprising

Starting September 23, director will be giving fans a rare treat: a free look at his latest project. This move, which will happen purposefully before the presidential election, comes four years after the controversial Fahrenheit 9/11 was released.

In Slacker Uprising, cameras follow Moore during a 2004 tour. The filmmaker hit 62 different cities that year in hopes of inspiring young adults to vote. (A trailer for the documentary can be seen after the jump.)

Although he originally intended to release Slacker in theaters, Moore - who doesn’t expect to profit from the release - wanted a way to celebrate Roger & Me‘s upcoming anniversary. (That film debuted in 1989.) “This is being done entirely as a gift to my fans. The only return any of us are hoping for is the largest turnout of young voters ever at the polls in November, ” Moore states on his website.

See Lindsay Lohan’s Return in Labor Pains Trailer

- whose last two films were the barely seen Chapter 27 and the Razzie-winner I Know Who Killed Me - is scheduled to make her big screen return next year in Labor Pains.

In the comedy, Lohan plays a publishing house assistant who feigns pregnancy to avoid being fired. Cheryl Hines, Chris Parnell, Janeane Garofalo and ‘s Kevin Covais co-star.


Labor Pains is set to be released sometime in 2009. Until then, Lindsay Lohan will be getting some small screen time during her five-episode arc on Ugly Betty.


Preview Sean Penn in the Trailer for Milk

Last month, we told you about Milk, a biopic about the first openly gay man elected into a public office.

Now we’re getting our first chance to see as Harvey Milk in this feature from Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting).


Based on those 2.5 minutes, I’m going to make an early prediction and utter the words “Oscar nomination” for Penn.

Don LaFontaine: The Man Behind the Voice Dies

A well-known voice was silenced this weekend.

Don LaFontaine, the man behind nearly 5000 trailers and 350,000 commercials, died Monday at a hospital in Los Angeles. The 68-year-old’s death was due to complications after a collapsed lung.

Although LaFontaine was mainly known for his legendary pipes, his face recently got air time thanks to a Geico commercial. (That spot can be seen after the jump.) In the meantime, you can familiarize yourself with some of Don’s great voiceover work in the clip below.
