"Yeah, I'd definitely like to go for Bond, but in more like 20 years. There'd be nothing worse than, like, 'Let's get a fresh-faced Bond!' That would be the worst idea in the world. It would be ridiculous to reinvent it as some young posh kid. After Daniel Craig you have to have some baggage. I'd have to be tortured in the first few scenes. I'd have to do the first film with one arm or something."
The Twilight Saga star added that he is becoming more conscious about his health as he gets older: "I think 26 is the turning point. I've got to make up for 10 years of living like a degenerate. I've suddenly become conscious of being unhealthy. You've spent every bit of free time since the age of 15 in a pub. And suddenly you're like: 'Oh God, I don't want to be this grey ghost sitting there with a pot belly. I've got to get it together.'"

Daniel Craig Won’t Recreate the Old Bond Movies

The actor is to play 007 for the third time in the 23rd Bond movie, Skyfall, and while he has looked at old films to give him inspiration, he wants the suave spy's latest outing to be something new.
"I reread the books, he read the books, we watched the movies, we talked about the Roger Moore movies, the Sean Connery movies, the whole thing. There's a sort of tone that's in all those movies that you can't try to recreate. If you do, then it's a pastiche. Neither Sam [Mendes] nor I want to make a pastiche of an older movie. But you have flavors of it."
Daniel also revealed the recent problems with studio MGM - which put filming back - helped Skyfall, as it gave everyone more time to work on a better script: "The MGM thing was a silver lining situation where, for the first time, we had a lot of time to work on the script. We weren't publicly allowed to say we were doing anything, but we were secretly meeting. It wasn't full bore until everything was given the green light, but we were very optimistic it would happen."
Skyfall opens later this year.

Daniel Craig wants to play James Bond for as long as he can.
The actor will be reprising his role as the British spy for the third time in new movie Skyfall and says he has no intention of quitting until he is told to. "I will keep going until they tell me to stop," he said.
However, Daniel - who took over from Pierce Brosnan as the suave spy in 2005's Casino Royale - knows there will be a time when he has to give it up: "I know there'll be someone after me, and hopefully someone after them - I'm just trying to keep [the series] going."
Daniel, 44, says despite there being a four-year gap between Skyfall and the last Bond film Quantum of Solace, work had still been going on behind the scenes. "We haven't been resting on our laurels, we've been plotting what to do with this film. The first one was a whirr - it was a new experience and flew by - the second one was the tricky second album, but this one we've really planned and got a great script. It's going to be different from the last one, but it will still be a great Bond movie."

The first official synopsis has been released for forthcoming James Bond movie Skyfall.
The eagerly anticipated movie - which will see Daniel Craig return in the role as the British spy - will place the relationship between the leading man and character M, played by Dame Judi Dench, under pressure.
"Daniel Craig is back as James Bond 007 in Skyfall, the 23rd adventure in the longest-running film franchise of all time. In Skyfall, Bond's loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost."
The movie - which stars newcomers to the series Ben Whishaw and Javier Bardem - is currently shooting in London and is due to be released in November 2012.

Daniel Craig Has ‘No Desire’ to Escape Bond

Daniel Craig has "no desire" to "escape" James Bond. The British actor - who will portray the iconic British spy for the third time in Skyfall and is rumored to have signed up for an additional five movies - thinks if he signed up for anything radically different in between films, people would accuse him of trying to stop himself being typecast.
"I don't think, 'This will look good next to that...' If that's what you do, you're inhibiting yourself against instinct, which is just wrong. Of course I could [play a role like a child killer]. Whether I'd want to is another matter. I think it would smack slightly of, you know, 'Oh, he's only doing that to get away from Bond.' I've got no desire to escape the role. I love playing Bond - it's fantastic."
Despite his love of playing Bond, Daniel admits he almost quit the franchise when studio MGM ran into financial difficulties, causing delays to the next film in the series: "There was that long hiatus where Bond maybe wasn't happening. I'd got it into my head that if it went another two years on top of the two-year gap we'd already had, then they should probably find someone else. And I should think about getting on with things."

James Bond is to return to movie screens next year.
Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the suave British spy in the 23rd screen adventure in November 2012, after the film was finally given the go-ahead, nine months after it was originally shelved amid money problems for studio MGM.
Sam Mendes will direct the film, while legendary actress Dame Judi Dench is believed to be returning as M. Frost/Nixon actor Michael Sheen has reportedly been approached to play the villain while a Bond girl to play opposite heartthrob Craig is yet to be decided.
"I think I'm going to be needed in spring of 2011. That's a message I got," Judi previously said.
Actor Simon Russell Beale has been linked with a role after being watched twice by Bond producer Barbara Brocolli in his current West End play Deathtrap - and is also playing King Lear in 2012 under the direction of Sam Mendes. "Every actor wants to be in Bond and I'd love to be a baddie," he recently said.
The script, meanwhile, is being penned by regular contributors Neal Purvis and Robert Wade along with John Logan who worked on Hollywood hits Gladiator, The Aviator and The Last Samurai. Shooting will start later this year and its release will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first Bond film, Dr No.
MGM Bankrupt, But Bond Will Go On

MGM may have filed for bankruptcy earlier this week, but the 23rd James Bond movie will receive the financial support it needs. The studio announced that they’ve picked up a partner to foot the bill on Bond.
Daniel Craig, the current Bond, recently released a statement urging MGM to get their movie projects together, so he should be thrilled with this news.
Meanwhile, MGM is still shopping for a partner to pick up the bill on The Hobbit, which comes with a $265 million price tag.
Production for the next 007 film will start soon in order to get it ready for its November 2012 release date.

Daniel Craig: Eager to Play James Bond Again

“Unless MGM can sort themselves out, we can’t make a movie,” Daniel Craig, also known as James Bond, offered this less-than-positive comment in a recent interview. “I’m really keen to get going, it’s as simple as that.”
Apparently not. Bond 23, the next planned 007 flick, has been indefinitely suspended by MGM, which is suffering from serious financial difficulties.
“I’d like to fulfill the circle with the story,” Craig said, but added that “there is nothing really to say” until MGM straightens out their financials. “There’s no chance of getting it made until those things are taken care of.”
Bummer, James Bond fans. The franchise will just wait for another day … or year.

MGM Indefinitely Suspends Next Bond Film

Production on the 23rd James Bond movie has been suspended.
Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli - producers on the movie - claim the future of film studio MGM is halting suspension on the project, which will be Daniel Craig‘s third outing as the British spy. In a statement, the pair told Variety, “Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on Bond 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of Bond 23.

Pierce Brosnan Never Broke Free of Bonds

Ghost Writer‘s Pierce Brosnan never “nailed” James Bond.
The 56-year-old actor, who played the British spy in four installments of the movie franchise, feels his performances suffered because he couldn’t forget how previous actors had portrayed 007. Pierce - who took over the role from Timothy Dalton - explained:
“It was one of those things I always struggled with. I never felt that I really nailed it. There was always a hint of Sean Connery and Roger Moore that was so indelible in my own mind.”
The Hollywood star also says he knew that the script for Tomorrow Never Dies - his second outing as Bond - was not as good as many had hoped it would be: “When I did Tomorrow Never Dies I knew the movie wasn’t up to speed, it wasn’t as good as Goldeneye.”
However, he is still glad he had the opportunity to play the iconic movie character.
