Seeking Geek Diversity

Posted by Stuart Maxwell Categories:

19 days and counting…

From the earliest planning session, we talked about wanting Seattle Mind Camp to be an event where bright Seattlites could meet other bright Seattlites.  We knew that there were a ton of cool projects going on in the city, but the chances to actually meet the people behind those projects were few and far between.  So we invited all the cool people we could think of.  Many of them showed up, along with a bunch of other cool people we hadn’t thought of.

Here’s the thing, though:

Most of us are computer geeks of some sort, so we tended to invite other techies.  This time, though, we’d really like to expand the range of geekotypes who come to SMC2.  So I throw it out to you:  who do you know in a field different from yours who you think would have something to share with the group?  Who do you know who is passionate, informed, and interesting?  Who can you think of who can blow our minds, and wants to have their minds blown, too?

Do you know anyone who is a filmmaker, artist, politician, doctor, historian, writer, marine biologist or zookeeper?  Invite them to the camp.

The way we figure it, the more different ideas we’re exposed to the smarter we’ll be.
