I’ve tried a few different alternatives but always come back to Norton as they seem to be the best product out there for defending against virus’

I’m the same as you, I tried Computer Associate’s ezTrust AV, but went back to Norton. I use System Works though, has allot of good features to keep your system running smoothly.
I use norton, and it works pretty well for me. I would reommend norton IS or norton corporate edition if you can get it.
I know some people that use trendmircro, and they don’t seem to have issues, so I’d assume it works pretty well also.
I haven’t used mcafee since my p1 75mhz, but I know when I used it, it blew. I get PC mag, and they regularly give norton higher scores than mcafee, so I’d prolly stay away from them.
I recommend AVG Anti-Virus. It is free and does its job well. I wouldn’t waste money on norton, get AVG. http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php The best anti-virus protection is to watch what you do, don’t open strange files, watch what you download, etc. Take the necessary precautions.
Im sorry but there is no way that thing can be as good as norton. Norton constantly has updates because of its large staff and if a new virus is out they create updates as soon as they can for it. Im not too sure if AVG is that efficient.
I’d recommend Norton. Great virus protection, it detects viruses almost instantly. Ive never had a virus thanks to its protection.
i ran my machine for months without virus protection. One does not need virus protection if they know what they are doing behind a computer. I originally installed it to try it out and decided to keep it. AVG is quite efficient, it detects those gay Java viruses that you get by browsing the web with IE, and when a new virus comes out they do come out with a update for their program. Norton is not as great as you say, i have had many cases where Norton Antivirus would not load properly or function properly. I have also heard horror stories from other Norton products as well.
P.s I have come to the conclusion that viruses are made by anti-virus companies, well the good ones anyway.

I had that. The trial ran out. Is your link a full version ?

I used Norton for about a year, it works well and did its job, I just didn’t like how it took over my computer, it controlled my recycling bin and was just annoying, I now use AVG, works fine.

Ya that is one reason why I use Corporate Edition 😊
i use Network Acosiates VirusScan (isn’t that Mcafee?) on my laptop… but am just waiting for it to run out, then i’m putting on Trend Micro PC-cillan… which i have on my desktop.
Norton has serious issuses with CPU usage… switching to PC-cillan changed my startup time from 3min to 1.5min.
besides, PC-cillan updates almost daily against new definitions… and has built in stuff to catch viruses that it hasn’t been informed about yet.
when i uninstalled Norton, i did a final system scan and it found nothing. when i installed PC-cillan and did my first scan, it found 1 trojan and 3 worms
besides, it’s cheap… you can get it for $25 after a mail in rebate… renewals are also $25.
Whats the correct server for the AVG Updates? I keep getting an error when I click on AVG to update. It tells me it isnt the correct server in Settings.

I agree AVG is the best i’ve ever had. Updates itself everyday. Give it a try.
