Madonna’s New Dolce and Gabbana Campaign?
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,
Madonna is reportedly set to star in another campaign for Dolce and Gabbana.
The 51-year-old singer appeared in a stunning series of adverts for the Italian designers last year and it is thought she will be the face of their Fall/Winter 2010 womenswear range. The duo - who are good friends with Madonna - are currently in New York filming their new menswear campaign at Mulberry Street Bar and the “Material Girl” hitmaker was spotted very near the venue.
It has also been reported Madonna’s favorite photographer, Steven Klein, will be shooting in very same Manhattan area over the next few days for the designers. If the rumors are true, it will be the latest collaboration between the star and the fashion house.
As well as appearing in last year’s campaign, it was recently revealed she is to design a collection of sunglasses which bear the letter ‘M’ on the arm. Stefano Gabbana said, “We’re so excited. This further strengthens our relationship with Madonna, and it was a very constructive experience for us. She is very exacting and a professional who seeks perfection in everything she does, and this was no exception.” Madonna will also star in the advertising images for the eyewear line, which were shot by Klein and will be released next month to coincide with the launch.
Giles Deacon Considered for Ungaro Position
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Rumors,
Giles Deacon is being lined up for a position at Emanuel Ungaro. The British designer would replace the brand’s previous artistic adviser Lindsay Lohan, who had a poorly-received first collection for the fashion house last October.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Ungaro’s owner Asim Abdullah was seen dining with Giles in a Paris restaurant, although both have refused to comment on the rumors. Emanuel Ungaro set up his self-titled fashion house in 1965, but since his retirement in 2004 the brand has failed to find a long-term collaborator.
Previous collaborators at Ungaro include Esteban Cortazar, Vincent Darre and Peter Dundas, who now works for Emilio Pucci. Giles - who was educated at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design - set up his own label in 2004. Darlington-born Giles has a history of collaborations, staring his career working with French fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Italian luxury goods firm Bottega Veneta.

Unlike a certain someone in denial, the princess of pop knows that she’s got some flaws and isn’t afraid to share them with the world.
Following supermodel Claudia Schiffer‘s footsteps, Britney Spears prompted footwear designer Candies to release the unedited version of her latest ad campaign. In the images, Spears’s waist, thighs, and bottom have all been trimmed down, in addition to smoothing her skin and removing cellulite.
The only problem is… she still looks great in the unedited images! Despite that, this is a great move for her—hopefully this trend will now continue to ripple in the fashion industry.

Lindsay Lohan Not Involved With Latest Ungaro Line

UPDATE: According to WWD, Lohan reportedly said, “I don’t work for them [House of Emanuel Ungaro] anymore.”
Is there still a future in high fashion for Lindsay Lohan? According to the label, Lohan was “not involved” with the latest Emanuel Ungaro collection.
The actress was the artistic advisor for the French fashion house, but rumors are now rife she has been axed from her job after she failed to have any input for their latest designs, which were showcased at Paris Fashion Week.
Speaking about Lindsay, who was not present at the last week’s show, the brand’s owner Asim Abdullah told WWD, “She’s not involved in this collection.” Last year, Ungaro’s then CEO Mounir Moufarrige slammed rumors Lindsay was to be axed after her debut collection was a critical flop: “As we speak, she is in New York in shoots with Ungaro. The decision to appoint her was controversial, but then fashion is controversial anyway, and you need some novelties and you need to test some new ideas.”
Lindsay - who has her own fashion line 6126 - has previously admitted being associated with her can have negative consequences. The 23-year-old star said, “I’m the first to say that in certain situations, my name will cheapen things because that’s what people have made of it.”
Tom Ford Moves Forward With Womenswear Plans

Upon completing his foray into film, Tom Ford is now venturing into womenswear.
The designer has reportedly started recruiting accessories specialists and is putting together a design team for a return to the ladies clothing market, his first foray into the area under his own name. Tom confirmed his intentions to move back toward womenswear last year, saying in October, “Financing is extremely expensive right now, so if we find financing in the right situation we’ll be able to start a women’s collection soon. If we don’t, we may have to wait a while.”
He warned, however, the project would take over a year to complete, adding, “It will take me 18 months when I start, because I have to hire the team, find the factories, put everything together and then get the stores ready so there’s a place for these clothes.”
Meanwhile, Tom - who has previously worked for Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent - dressed Oscars hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin for last night’s ceremony, which included a costume changed for Alec from a single-breasted tuxedo with grosgrain peak lapels, white pique front shirts and black grosgrain cummerbunds and bow ties to a navy blue, single-breasted tuxedo with a grosgrain peak lapel.
Colin Firth - who starred in Tom’s directorial debut film A Single Man for which he was nominated for the Best Actor award - was also dressed by the designer at the Oscars.
Kate Moss Piles on Holiday Pounds

We weren’t the only ones worried about our additional holiday pounds—Kate Moss is worried about her figure after over-indulging in Thailand.
The supermodel, who is currently in the Asian country on an extended New Year break, has been tucking into plates of fried food and is now starting to regret her actions after piling on some pounds.
A friend of the 35-year-old beauty said, “Kate’s been a bit naughty on holiday. She decided to spoil herself, so she’s been ordering egg and chips a hell of a lot. Now she’s staring to regret it. She’s having to leave the top button of her jeans undone in the evening and is worried she’s put on timber.”
Although she has been over-indulging with the food, Kate has been exercising on her break as she recently learned a synchronized swimming routine.
A source said, “Kate has spent five days solid preparing for this synchronized swimming display. Underwater music was piped through her hotel pool, allowing her to practice her moves and refine the art of water ballet.” The catwalk queen is taking the swimming so seriously that she has been studying from a guide book to help her perfect her moves.
Lindsay Lohan Demands Free Clothes
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Rumors, Sales, Women, Accessories,
Much like when she refused to pay a bar tab, Lindsay Lohan has now “offended” a designer boutique after demanding free clothes.
The failed creative advisor for Ungaro has upset exclusive Los Angeles boutique Kitson - which stocks Lindsay’s leggings line 6126 - after she reportedly demanded $15,000 in free merchandise from a shop assistant earlier this month.
Store owners are upset by the 23-year-old’s demands because she reportedly failed to fulfil her promotional duties after they splashed out a huge sum on stocking her leg-wear range. A spokesperson told Fox News, “We’re actually really offended. The tables have turned and now we’re the customer. We spent $50,000 on her leggings line, but she hasn’t come to the store in three years, and she didn’t even do a personal appearance. “
Staff at the shop - which is on Robertson Boulevard - have now threatened to withdraw the collection from their store: “She should have brought cookies for the staff to thank them for selling her leggings because she does nothing. We don’t know if we’ll continue to carry them.”
Lindsay Lohan Facing the Axe at Ungaro
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Fashion Shows, News, Rumors,
Not that it’s too much of a surprise, the House of Emanuel Ungaro’s chairman is desperate to axe Lindsay Lohan‘s contract with the label.
The Mean Girls actress’ debut collection for the French fashion house was a critical flop and her continued association with the brand has caused a row with chairman Asim Abdullah and CEO Mounir Moufarrige.
A source revealed, “Asim wants her out now. Department stores in the States have already told him they won’t be picking up the line if Lohan remains a collaborator, so it’s a serious issue. Mounir wants to keep her on because it was his idea to hire her in the first place. He’s trying to save face.”
A spokesperson for Ungaro’s chairman denied any rift between him and Mounir; the representative said, “Such an insinuation is totally absurd.”
Earlier this month, Emanuel Ungaro - who has had no contact with the fashion house since his 2005 departure - blasted Lindsay’s collection.
Stella McCartney to Team Up With Leona Lewis
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Rumors,
With stylish stars like Angelina Jolie dressing kids in her clothes, it’s no wonder that more celebrities want to line up with Stella McCartney.
Pop singer Leona Lewis has her eyes aimed at such a collaboration, specifically an eco-friendly one.
“Leona and Stella got on famously. They are both vegetarians, don’t wear leather and are huge animal lovers. The [fashion] line would be very animal-friendly,” reveals an anonymous source.
The news comes after the pair were spotted being awfully chatty at a charity event, Children In Need, in London. Although McCartney has designed costumes for the film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, this team-up would be her first with a celebrity, despite having previous done lines for Adidas and H&M.
