In this episode of Unboxing Live, we give you a look at the new 2012 Apple TV. The main feature of the updated Apple TV is that it can display 1080p content. iTunes has been updated to support the 1080p resolution as well, which makes renting and buying content from iTunes at the highest quality look great on the new Apple TV and the new iPad as well. Netflix has also been updated to stream 1080p with the new device, which is powered by a single-core A5 processor. You can pick up the new Apple TV for $99.

Unboxing Live 091: iPad 3rd Generation

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Features, Handhelds, Videocasts,

We open up the brand new iPad (3rd generation) in this episode. The new iPad (or iPad 3, as some call it) from Apple features an amazing Retina display, A5X processor with quad-core graphics, and optional 4G LTE from Verizon or AT&T. It's a nice upgrade from the previous iPad 2, and is the best tablet for the money that you can get today. In fact, you can get one right now from Apple. All you'll find in the box is the iPad tablet itself, along with a sync cable and AC adapter for charging, and that's really it. Not much to this one, but not to worry, we'll have plenty more iPad (3rd Generation) videos for you soon, including some LTE speed tests.

Unboxing Live 089: Nest Learning Thermostat

In this episode we open up the Nest Learning Thermostat. If you are unfamiliar, check out our video demo of Nest. Nest aims to manage the heating and cooling in your house by learning your usage patterns alongside built-in motion sensors that are used to tell when you are and aren't home. You can control Nest directly from the unit, as well as from anywhere that you have an Internet connection through the browser. It also has smartphone apps that allow you to control it directly from your mobile device. The more you interact with Nest, the more it learns about your preferences, and it will continually tune itself to your preferences and schedule. Nest is currently backordered by about two months from the company, but you can pick up Nest on Amazon.

Unboxing Live 085: Third Rail Slim Case and Smart Battery for iPhone 4, iPhone 4S

We show you the awesome Third Rail Slim Case and Smart Battery for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in this episode. The design of the Third Rail system is brilliant. The case itself protects the iPhone, but is super slim because of the fact that the battery is removable. When you need power, you just slide a Smart Battery into place, and your phone is charging. Even cooler, the Smart Battery can charge other USB devices on its own, not just iPhones. So if you have an Android device, a Kindle, or anything else, you can use the Smart Battery to charge it. The batteries are also stackable, and you can have up to 6 Smart Batteries giving power to a device, or being recharged, all at once. You can pick up a Third Rail Slim Case on Amazon for $74.

We open up and demo the MediaDevil Magicwand capacitive touch screen stylus in this episode! Not many people find that they are in need of a stylus for their iOS, Android, and other devices, but we've definitely found that, in some instances, it's pretty convenient. The Magicwand lets you use your devices in the cold when you have gloves on, lets you sign documents with your signature, and have a removable lanyard that plugs into the headphone jack so that you don't lose it. Check out the video to see how it works, as we demo the product with an iPad 2. You can pick up the Magicwand on Amazon for $9.
