New Rolling Stones Biopic in Production

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Industry News, Rock,

Mick Jagger and Keith RichardsA new movie will focus on the tumultuous relationship between The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The film will follow the singer and the guitarist through the volatile period in which they made 1972 double album, Exile on Main Street, in France.

The movie will be made by Richard Branson's Virgin Produced, and be based on Robert Greenfield's 2008 book Exile on Main Street: A Season in Hell.

"It wasn't a great environment for, like, breathing. It was very Hitleresque - the last days of Berlin sort of thing," Keith said, speaking previously about making the record

Brandon and Phil Murphy - who are currently working on a Steve McQueen project for Sony - will write the screenplay while Jason Felts will serve as producer. Casting has not yet begun on the film.

It has previously been revealed The Rolling Stones will celebrate their 50th anniversary with an authorised documentary which will trace their history from their formation in 1962 to the current day. "For anyone who wants to experience the band, this is the film that will defy convention and create a sonic tapestry to transport viewers into the world of the Rolling Stones. The film will deliver the original, bold, sexy and dangerous flavour of the iconic rock band," director Brett Morgen said in a statement.

spaceshiptwo feather

One of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic spaceships on Wednesday completed a re-entry technique known as a "feather" configuration for the first time.

The SpaceShipTwo (SS2), known as the VSS Enterprise, has now completed seven solo flights since its December 2009 debut, but Wednesday's was the first that successfully tested out this re-entry procedure.

Virgin Galatic is Branson's commerical spaceflight program, which plans to take the average (albeit wealthy) tourist into space in the next two years.

The VSS Enterprise took off from a California runway this morning at 6:43am Pacific time attached to the WhiteKnight (WK2) carrier aircraft, the VMS Eve. The spaceship was controlled by Pete Siebold and Clint Nichols, test pilots from Scaled Composites, which designed and build the spacecrafts. Mark Stucky, Brian Maisler, and Brandon Inks manned the VMS Eve.

Virgin’s Project Magazine

Posted by Patrick Lambert Categories: News, iPad Apps, $2.99, Free Apps,

Richard Branson and Virgin have released Project, which is now available in the App Store for iPad devices running the latest version of iOS. Managing to beat News Corp and their upcoming periodical The Daily, Virgin promotes their magazine as "a revolutionary multimedia magazine built specially for your iPad – packed with international culture, entertainment, design, business and travel." While the app itself is free, each magazine will cost you $2.99, and comes out once a month.

The magazine itself looks similar to other magazines available for the iPad, with multiple navigation options that take advantage of the device, although it includes more multimedia components. Each section starts with a video presentation, there's interactive images, sounds, and other little extras. Note that the magazine also has ads in it. Techcrunch made a video overview for it which shows it off pretty well. The app does come with a preview by itself, so check it out in the App Store.

Virgle Fool’s Day

When we saw Virgin founder Richard Branson on Craig Ferguson’s show last night announcing his new project “Virgle” we knew it had to be an April Fool’s Day Joke. Even Craig didn’t believe it. Richard has supposedly teamed up with Google creators Larry Page and Sergey Brin to offer the first trip to Mars, one way, we might add, beginning in the next twenty years. While this proves that those who have money can do almost anything they want, you can check out the “official” site, take a test, send them a video and sign up to be a Virgle Pioneer, especially if you believe you can hang on for another hundred years.

Julianne Hough Saving Herself for That Special Person

Julianne HoughAnyone who still believes that had some part in Helio Castroneves’ broken engagement may think differently after hearing this news:  she is still a virgin.

The Dancing with the Stars professional has been bogged down with rumors ever since she was paired up with her first athlete, Apolo Ohno.  Now the dancer, who is recording her first country album (don’t confuse her with , who is also doing the same), is opening up to CosmoGIRL!.

The blonde beauty says that she has made the (admirable) choice to wait until marriage; she believes that decision will only help to “strengthen that relationship.”  Wondering why Hough broke off her own engagement last year?  She felt she was simply too young.

You’re only 19 years old.  I think “young” would be an understatement.
