How to bring Siri to your Mac

Siri for Mac

Siri has been relegated to the confines of the iPhone 4S for the past six months, while many a new iPad owner and Mountain Lion beta tester have wondered what's taking Apple so long to release the feature from beta. For those of you running the latest version of OS X, Reddit user Moosehadley figured out that you can inject Siri's female voice right into OS X Lion (we've confirmed that this works for Mountain Lion as well.) All you need to do is go into System Preferences > Speech > Text to Speech. Use the System Voice pulldown, and choose Customize. From the list, select "Samantha" and let it install. This is the same voice used for Siri, and should hold you over until her full functionality makes it to the Mac.

New Sex and the City Trailer

Sex and the CityFinally - a more substantive glance at the upcoming Movie!

While I will undoubtedly watch the release, I must say the newest trailer gives the film a much darker tone than I would have liked to see.  (You can view it for yourself, after the jump.)  Is it because the show is best served on the small screen?  Should the series only be viewed in 30-minute snippets?  Is the teaser simply a bad representation?  (Oh, I hope so.)

Regardless, the clip does give us a few juicy tidbits:

  • Apparently Mr. Big’s (full) name is John James Preston.  (I think I like him better when he’s not an actual person.)
  • It looks like Steve may have cheated on Miranda.  (The Steve I know would never do something like that.)
  • Commitment-phobe Samantha may be wandering from Smith Jerrod.
  • Charlotte is indeed pregant.  (She adopted that kid for nothing.)
  • And last but not least, Carrie’s planned wedding to Big falls apart?

Be looking for SATC to hit theaters this May 30.

Jennifer Hudson Joins ‘Sex And The City’ Movie

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: New Line, Adaptation, Comedy, Casting,

Jennifer Hudson is proving (to many jealous women out there) that her career did not peak with a silly little .  The winner has now been cast in the big screen version of .

The former contestant will be joining , Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in the Big Apple.  After months of talk, production on the show-turned film will finally begin next week.

While plot details have yet been leaked, we do know that Jennifer will play Carrie Bradshaw’s assistant (Louise).  Any guesses out there as to what that means?  Did Carrie become a full-time writer at Vogue?  Does this mean she will actually be working outside of her apartment…in an office?

The Big News on the Sex & The City Movie

Sex & the City ladiesYes, the Sex & the City movie is a done deal. Contracts are signed, apparently the script is written, and production is going forward next month. By 2010, all the Sex fans will strap Monolos to their feet and be off to the theaters to celebrate this triumphant big-screen debut of a show that’s still being syndicated (and probably always will be).

Yes, a lot of filming will be done in the city of New York – you can’t have Sex without it. Yes, is definitely signed on to play Samantha Jones and is going forward with the flick (HBO offered her a series just to cinch the deal). , , and will all set the big screen on fire as Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte. But…there is still one more element that we all must have, or else we just can’t have Sex.

‘Sex And The City’ Movie Buzz

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, HBO, Gossip, Rumors,

SATCI know that speculation about a Sex And The City movie has been brewing for some time now—but I’ve done my best to ignore all the chatter.  The last time plans were squashed (reportedly thanks to Kim Cattrall’s financial demands), I put all my hopes to rest.  So when the rumors recently started up again, I listened with skepticism.

And while anything could change at the drop of a hat, TVGuide.com is now reporting that production is imminent.  New Line Cinema is apparently in final distribution talks with HBO.  A formal announcement could be made as early as next week with filming to being in mid-September.

I’m ecstatic at the prospect of seeing my beloved ladies once again—but I’m also bit nervous.  Will this show really translate well to the big screen?  (We all know how the film versions of Twin Peaks and The X-Files fared).  Is a made-for-HBO version the better option?

And what about the storylines?  Are we better off pretending that Carrie and Mr. Big live happily-ever-after?  And then there’s Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.  They were all pretty happy with their respective love lives as well.  If someone has to carry on with the SATC tradition, does that mean that one of these ladies will be off hopping into bed with someone else soon?

Regardless of how it all ends, I will be there on opening night…cosmopolitan in hand.
