Heading for a trip w-a-a-a-y up north? Olympus has updated their 1030 with the Stylus 1050 SW. It is not only waterproof, shockproof, and freeze-proof, it can handle depths of 10 ft. of water. It has Tap Control, which means that you can shoot with your thickest gloves on. Touch the side, back, or front to make adjustments. It also has a 2.7-inch LCD screen, a 3x optical zoom, a 1/2.33-inch 10.1 Mpix CCD sensor, face detection, and a True Pic III image processor. Look for an October launch for $299.99.

Olympus’ new FE-360 point-and-shoot in blue has a 2.5-inch LCD and 3x zoom lens, while the FE-370, in what they say is red, has a 2.7-inch LCD and 5x zoom at a price of $149.99. In addition, the 370 cam includes intelligent auto mode, Smile Shot, and Expression Edit, to put a smile on the only one in the crowd who has none. It retails for $199.99. Olympus Unveils Waterproof Compacts

Olympus has two digital compacts to add to their Stylus line, the 1030 SW and 850 SW (shock and water-proof.) The 850 features an 8 MP sensor, a 2.5-inch HyperCrystal II LCD display, and a 3x optical zoom. Drop it up to 5 feet and it bounces back, figuratively speaking. The camera can go down 10 feet in temperatures of about 14ºF. The 1030 has a 10.1 MP sensor, a 2.7-inch HyperCrystal II LCD display, and a 3.6x optical zoom. Olympus claims that it will handle a depth of 33 feet and a temperature as low as 14ºF. The 850 should be available later this month for at a price of ~$300.00 while the 1030 makes its debut in March for an extra $100.00.
