Wolfgang S Birdhouse puts your neighbors on high alert

Posted by Finnian Durkan Categories: Cameras, Smart Home,

Wolfgang S BirdhouseWith the Wolfgang S Birdhouse designer Dennis Nino Clasen has killed two, ahem, birds with one stone.  Not only does it allow you to trick your neighbors in to thinking you are watching their every move but it also puts an aesthetically-entertaining roof over the heads of your feathered friends.  While it may not keep your neighbor from tossing their raked-up leaves over the fence and into your yard for very long, it will provide a little extra ambiance for the exterior of your house during the spring and summer months.

NL Gold Gloves a golden joke

Posted by Adrien Griffin Categories: Athletes, Editorial, MLB,

Ryan ZimmermanThe National League handed out their Gold Glove Awards, and as usual, there was a sense of comic relief because of some of the winners – specifically at third base. Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals took home his first Gold Glove, perhaps solely because the Nats needed anything with which to say 2009 was successful. He finished ahead of a much more deserving candidate from San Diego in Kevin Kouzmanoff. The suspicion is that Gold Glove winners – a defensive honor – are often chosen based on offensive statistics. A comparison between the two NL third basemen gives credit to that theory.

The Werd

For the invocation of the Werd, I have made a pirate joke for your enjoyment:

What’s the difference between an AIG CEO and a college student downloading a CD?

The CEO won’t be criminally prosecuted!

Hi-HO!

And now, for something completely different:

ABC offers apology regarding Desperate Housewives Philippines comment

Desperate Housewives  ABC might have stepped over the line during a recent episode of Desperate Housewives, sparking a public outcry culminating in online petitions, angry phone calls and criticism from Philippine officials. Sunday’s Desperate season premiere featured Susan () at the doctor’s office, a character who becomes horrified to learn she may be going through menopause. Here’s how it played out:

“Listen, Susan, I know for a lot of women the word ‘menopause’ has negative connotations. You hear ‘aging, brittle bones, loss of sexual desire,’” says the doctor. “Okay, so before we go any further, can I check these diplomas? Just to make sure they aren’t, like, from some med school in the Philippines?” Susan offers her supposed-to-be-funny rejoinder.

And that’s when the desperation hit the fan. Calls started rolling in, and as of Wednesday evening more than thirty thousand had added their names to an online petition demanding apology from ABC. The network has responded with a statement saying they’re considering editing the episode, and has offered their “sincere apologies.” The prepared statement said the network had no intention of disparaging the integrity of any aspect of the medical community in the Philippines. The episode has drawn international attention and plenty of YouTube hits, beginning a PR nightmare for ABC execs.

Sarah Silverman Comments on Britney Jokes

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Cable, Gossip,

Sarah Silverman, current Comedy Central golden girl, is still fielding comments springing from her VMA jokes. The comedienne is getting a lot of flak for calling Brit’s babies “adorable mistakes,” which Silverman maintains was meant to be a harmless joke. She went on to say she doesn’t want to be involved in a feud with Spears – or any girl half her age. Silverman is known for her off-the-cuff remarks and somewhat lewd jokes, but the touchiness surrounding this year’s award season has created more press than the results of the awards themselves. Everyone is so busy looking for controversy, we no longer have any idea what happened with any of the awards. And the haven’t even happened yet.
