Eminem Wins Big at MTV EMAs as Miley Cyrus Causes Controversy

Miley CyrusEminem was among the big winners at the MTV Europe Music Awards last night, while Miley Cyrus caused controversy yet again.

The 41-year-old rapper won the Best Hip Hop and Global Icon prizes at the ceremony at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam - making him the artist with the most EMAs ever - and he celebrated his victory with a surprise performance of "Bezerk" before a scintillating rendition of "Rap God."

Miley ensured she remained in the spotlight by sparking up what appeared to be a joint on-stage and then smoking it with Will Ferrell, who was at the awards as his Anchorman alter-ego Ron Burgundy, before accepting her Best Video prize for "Wrecking Ball." The blonde star told the crowd, "I couldn't fit this award in my bag but I did find this..."

One Direction also won two accolades, Best Pop and Best UK & Ireland Act, and the band's 19-year-old hunk Harry Styles was named Best Look - beating the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Rita Ora to the gong - however none of the boy band were at the ceremony to pick up their prizes.

You see ones with, like three baby seats on them. And then coffeeshops! I saw Afrojack in one last night and we had some, y'know, coffee," he said.

Lady GagaLady Gaga will headline the first ever YouTube Music Awards.

The "Bad Romance" hitmaker will join Arcade Fire and Eminem on November 3 at the inaugural event which will honor artists who have shared their work through the popular video-sharing website.

"It's our chance to really celebrate the artists and the songs that have become hits on YouTube over the past year," said YouTube's vice president of marketing Danielle Tiedt.

There will be a number of performances taking place across the globe - including Seoul, Moscow, London and Brazil - before a live 90-minute show which will be streamed from Pier 36 in Manhattan, New York City.

Celine Dion Wants to Record with Eminem

Celine Dion Eminem

Celine Dion wants to record a track with Eminem. The "Think Twice" singer would love to collaborate with the rapper - famed for his controversial and often violent lyrics - to give her more "street cred."

When asked if she'd collaborate with Eminem by AccessHollywood.com, she replied, "I'd love to." The vocalist - famed for her ballads - also talked about getting the seal of approval from her son Rene-Charles, 12, after he found out she'd worked with Sia Furler - who has penned hits including "Titanium" with David Guetta and "Diamonds" for Rihanna - on her new album. "When I told [Rene] I was getting ready to do another album and that there's a new song called 'Loved Me Back to Life' and it was Sia who actually wrote it for me, he said, 'No way.' He couldn't believe it because I'm not cool, and I'm not Rihanna," she explained.

Eminem Samples Beastie Boys

EminemEminem samples Beastie Boys on his new single, "Berzerk." The rapper has unveiled the Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin produced track as the first proper single from his upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP II.

The upbeat song has a number of musical references to old school 80s hip-hop, including the pounding drumbeats and crunchy guitars which are Rick's signature style. The song samples both Beastie Boys' "Fight For Your Right To Party" and Billy Squier's "The Stroke."

In the track Eminem references his alter ego, Slim Shady, and older hip-hop artists rapping, "Let's bring it back to that vintage Slim, bitch / The art of the MCing mixed with da Vinci and MC Ren / And I don't mean Stimpy's friend, bitch / Been Public Enemy since you thought PE was gym, bitch."

The Marshall Mathers LP II is the sequel to Eminem's third album, released in 2000, which is his most successful to date. Eminem - whose real name is Marshall Mathers - had previously been quiet about his comeback, which his friend and Slaughterhouse collaborator, Royce Da 5' 9'', suggested was to retain an air of mystery.

Eminem to Surprise Fans with Album

EminemEminem wants to surprise fans with his new album.

Slaughterhouse members Royce Da 5' 9'' and Joell Ortiz - who are signed to the rapper's own Shady Records label - believe the "Not Afraid" hitmaker is deliberately keeping quiet about his upcoming eighth album because he doesn't want to give anything away until he's completed the final edit.

"Em's whole thing is the element of surprise. That's how it's always been with him," Royce said.

"He gets in to his own world. I too am like him in a way. I like to go in to my cave and get the meat and potatoes of my album done before I venture out because I've gotta figure out the sound. So I'm sure that's probably what he's doing," Joel added.

The 40-year-old superstar has yet to announce a release date or a title for the hotly-anticipated record, but photographs of him in the recording studio with comedian Chris Rock and rappers Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar have surfaced.

Taylor Swift Wants to Collaborate with Eminem

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift wants to collaborate with Eminem.

The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer is famed for her country-pop songs but she is also a huge fan of hip-hop and would love to do a song with the "Stan" rapper.

"I love hip-hop so much. There's something so honest about it," she said. When asked if she would jump on a track with Eminem, she added to InStyle magazine, "Nobody wants to hear me rap but I'd sing a chorus for someone for sure. I would sign up for that in a heartbeat."

Taylor, 23, is famed for her clean-cut image and while she admits people would be shocked if she started swearing in her music, she insists she has the final say on what she writes and releases and could do what she wants: "I don't have a big scary management situation where I have to ask them. If I wrote a song called 'F**k' I think people would kind of raise their hand and go, like, 'Maybe swear less?' But I just don't really feel the need to swear in my music."

Eminem to Release Album in 2013?

EminemEminem has sparked speculation he will release a new album next year. "The Real Slim Shady" hitmaker has hinted his eighth record will come out in 2013 by having the date sewn into a piece of official merchandise.

Ahead of this weekend's baseball World Series showdown between the Detroit Tigers and the San Francisco Giants, a post on Eminem's Facebook page read, "For a limited time only in honor of the big games and the hometown team's return to The D, we are pleased to offer the Eminem Baseball Tribute Hat in both home and away colors. Side panel is dedicated to the landmark Eminem solo albums. A portion of the proceeds will go to The Marshall Mathers Foundation. Get them here. (sic)"

The hat features Eminem's logo on the front and at the side is the proclamation "World Champion" followed by eight years. The first seven dates: 1996, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2009 and 2010 were all years in which the rapper released an album. A final date, 2013, follows underneath, leading fans to conclude he will release new material in the coming months.

Eminem Never Stops Working

EminemEminem is a "work horse."

The "Real Slim Shady" rapper - whose real name is Marshall Mathers - recently confirmed he has begun work on his eighth solo album and his friend and collaborator Royce Da 5'9'' wouldn't be surprised if the record is already close to being completed.

"Marshall is the type that never really stops recording, so when you get in the studio he's in the back room where the booth is and the door is locked. Nobody's allowed back there, nobody ever knows what he's doing. All I know is that he's constantly working, so if he told me that he had an album ready right now, I would believe him because he's like a work horse. He works every day," Royce told MTV News.

Eminem has been working with Royce's band Slaughterhouse - who are signed to his Shady Records label - on their album Welcome to: Our House but revealed recently he is now ready to focus fully on the follow-up to his 2010 record Recovery: "I've actually kinda just started. I've been on the move a little bit too, so in between things, I sneak songs in here and there. We actually just finished the [Slaughterhouse] album last week ... Now I've got time to be able to start doing things for my own project."
