Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 Camera

We have found another electronic staple that has gotten smaller. Panasonic has unveiled their Micro Four Thirds system camera, saying that it is the planet’s smallest. The LUMIX DMC-G1 has no internal mirror structure that is used in DSLR cameras so the size and weight has been halved. The camera’s flange back has been reduced from 40 to 20mm. The G1 will be available in the U.S. soon, comes in black, red and blue, and carries a MSRP of $799.99.

The new AT&T Samsung Epix i907 has been showing up in AT&T stores recently as expected.  The phone is basically a Blackjack, but benefits from a touch screen incorporating Haptic feedback, a QWERTY keyboard and optical mouse.  The phone uses Windows Mobile 6.1 for the Core OS and supports 850MHz, 1900MHz, 2100MHz HSDPA 3G networks and carries a built-in GPS.  The i907 also incorporates a microSD slot, 2 megapixel camera, and costs $199 with a 2 year contract.  If the isn’t your thing because tactile QWERTY keyboard is needed, this may be for you.

Who needs a new cam, when you can now get a decent one with a cell phone? Samsung’s Pixon features an 8 megapixel camera with video capability, a 16x zoom, face detection, and auto-focus. The cellie features 200 MB memory (more if you have an SD card,) a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a multi-format music player, and Bluetooth capability. The Pixon will be available in the next few weeks and its price will be determined by your contract with the carrier.

To text, there is an option with writing, mini QWERTY keyboard, full screen QWERTY and alpha-numeric keypad. HP B8550HP has unveiled their B8550 Photo Printer with its 5-ink system and extra large feed tray. With a 2.4-inch display, it has a maximum print resolution of 1200 x 1200, 128MB internal memory, and can print photos up to 13 x 19-inches. Attachable by USB, it also features a multi-format memory card reader and can copy 33ppm in black and 31ppm in color. Look for the B8550 soon with a $299.99 price.

Nintendo to Release new DS

DSRumor has it that Nintendo has plans for a new DS that will come out in time for the holidays. The DS2 will take pictures and play tunes. Also equipped for wireless application, it is expected to be less than ¥20,000 (~$189.00) when it is released in Japan. Although the DS is doing better globally, the PSP is outselling the DS there. We have no doubt that this move will make it more popular for those want the addition of the new features.

A few buds who like the color purple got together to launch a combination adventure/documentation project. The Purple Pedals Project equipped 20 yBikes with GPS and a camera that automatically snaps a shot once a minute. They then send them from all around the planet and are now attempting to document and share what they are doing via Yahoo mapping. At a size of 105 x 61.4 x 36.5mm, the camera also features a 2.7-inch TFT LCD (230k pixels) and a movie mode of HD 720p resolution at 30 fps. Included in the package is Samsung’s Digital Contents Management with Perfect Portrait System, face and blink detection, smile shot, self-portrait, red eye fix, and beauty shot. With no price or availability details out yet, it made its debut at the Photokina show in Germany.
