The University of Washington has designed Vocal Joystick software to assist those with disabilities. “Ahh” means go northwest, “ooo” makes it go south, and “ohh” makes the cursor go southeast. Vowel sounds make circles, while the voice volume controls the speed. A simple clicking noise opens a link. The researchers have already tested their joystick at the UW Medical Center and are about to begin the next round. The system only needs a mic, a PC with sound card and a voice to operate.

Imation’s Apollo Pro WX appears to be the first wireless USB hard drive. It will provide auto-backups when it is within range of your PC. The WUSB will range in capability from 250GB to 1.5TB. As part of this morning’s Let’s Rock event, Apple announced that the iPod classic was going to be available in one model from here on out, that being 120GB. While that is down from the 160GB model that was available previously, it is also up from the 80GB version that most people were buying. In case you didn’t know, that amount of space gives you the ability to save 30,000 songs. 30,000! Does anyone really have the time to do download, and listen to, that many songs?  If so, I’d like to meet him (or, more appropriately, her) - on second thought, maybe I don’t.  In either case, this will be the only version of the classic iPod moving forward and it will retail for a cool $249.
