Hangover Part II Breaks Box Office Record

The Hangover Part IIAfter its impressive box office record, it's only a matter of time before the sequel to The Hangover Part II is greenlit. The follow-up to the 2009 film The Hangover has grossed over $488 million to become the most globally successful R-rated comedy ever.

The Hangover Part II - which reunites original cast members Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha for the movie set in Bangkok - took in $21.4 million this weekend, surpassing the $468 million generated from the first movie and bringing the combined total to almost one billion dollars.

Following on from the box office success of The Hangover Part II, it is likely the cast and crew will return for a third film in the franchise with star Zach - who plays Alan Garner in the Todd Phillips-directed films - already getting calls about it. "They want to do a Hangover 3. I'm getting fricking phone calls already," Galifianakis said.

Filmmaker Todd has previously revealed another film in the series would be the last and thought it would be good to change the "template" of the franchise: "If we were to do a third one, and quite honestly we really haven't talked about it. I think we have a clear idea where that would head and it's certainly not in the same template you've seen these movies and obviously we always envisioned it as a trilogy as you can imagine, the third would very much a finale and an ending."

Box Office Breakdown: Green Lantern Fights Off Super 8

Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern

Even though the buzz for Green Lantern fizzled at the reveal of its rather disappointing full-length trailer, Ryan Reynold's abs the superhero flick managed to fight off last week's box office winner, Super 8.

The DC comic book adaptation scored $53 million at the box office in its first week, while the J.J. Former President Bill Clinton Cast in Hangover 2

President Bill Clinton

UPDATE: You can see pictures of Clinton on the set here.

If you thought Mel Gibson's hiring -- then firing -- would be The Hangover 2's biggest casting news, you would be wrong.

Turns out there's another guy who could possibly generate more buzz than the beleaguered actor: former President Bill Clinton.

According to People, Clinton filmed a brief cameo in the comedy sequel over the weekend. An aide to the former POTUS -- who was already in Bangkok, Thailand talking about clean energy -- says he appeared as himself.

No other details about Clinton's guest stint were revealed.

The Hangover 2 is scheduled for release on May 26, 2011.

Mike Tyson to Appear in Hangover 2

Hangover 2 director Todd Phillips spilled a few juicy details from the set of the movie -- and the one we’re most excited about is Mike Tyson.

Liam Neeson Takes Over Mel Gibson’s Hangover 2 Cameo

Liam Neeson has been selected to take over the tattoo artist role in Hangover 2, a cameo originally given to Mel Gibson. When some members of the cast and crew protested to Gibon’s participation in the film, a rep for both actors quickly swapped the one for the other.

The rep joked that Neeson would join the film “pending clearance of cast and crew background check.” Apparently, the Irish actor passed the test because TMZ is reporting that Neeson arrived in L.A. Saturday to begin working on the film.

Mel Gibson Loses His Hangover (Role)

Mel Gibson

It appears Hollywood is not yet ready to forgive and forget when it comes to Mel Gibson.

Earlier this week, we wondered whether audiences would welcome a cameo from Mel in The Hangover Part II. Unfortunately, we'll never know the answer.

Although someone had tapped the Oscar winner to play a tattoo artist in the comedy, the casting decision was not embraced by all those involved. On Thursday, Warner Bros. issued a press releasing announcing Gibson's dismissal from the project.

Mel Gibson to Appear in The Hangover 2

The Hangover 2 has nabbed a huge star to perform a cameo that could rival Mike Tyson’s Hangover appearance.

Mel Gibson will be appearing in the sequel, though not as himself. Gibson will be playing some sort of over-the-top character in the film. Sources say he's been cast as a tattoo artist in Bangkok.

Mel's cameo raises a lot of questions: How many of his own well-publicized personal problems will be openly mocked in the film … and how will audiences react? Unfortunately, we will have to wait until May 26 to find out.

The Hangover 2: Who Isn’t Returning?

We’ve got it on good authority that the main cast of The Hangover will reunite in the sequel…all except for one.

Don’t worry - Zach Galifianakis and Bradley Cooper are definitely returning. Justin Bartha, the film’s hapless groom, and Ed Helms (the dentist) are also coming back. Even Ken Jeong (whose scene-stealing moment lives in movie infamy) and the film's bride, Sasha Barrese, will reprise their roles. So, who are we missing?
