The fight between summer blockbusters has begun with X-Men: Days of Future Past and Godzilla, which held the number one title last weekend with $93.1 million. The monster movie remake was not enough of a pull to detract from the latest installment of the X-Men films, which took in $90.8 million.
Not only did Godzilla lose its top spot, but it also saw a 67% decrease from last weekend's pull, as its earnings was $30.9 million this Memorial Day weekend. Newcomer Blended - Adam Sandler's latest - debuted at number three with $14.2 million while Neighbors fell two spots to number four with $14 million. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also fell two spots to number five with $7.8 million.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also fell one spot to number three with $16.8 million while Million Dollar Arm debuted at number four with $10.5 million. Andrew Garfield Talks ‘Spider-Man 2’

It may not be due in theaters for well over a year from now, but the start of pre-production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has got fans wanting to know what to expect - and
Peter Parker Andrew Garfield has offered a few clues.
For starters, Garfield pointed out that the costume will be going under some redesigning - mostly due to a bodily function he couldn't perform while in it: "The suit is undergoing a redesign because I couldn't urinate in it last time. So I'm less nervous 'cause that's gonna be nice."
More importantly, Garfield discussed some possible themes that may be expressed in the sequel:
"I feel like we got over a hump with our first one. We had to reinstate the character, and we had to reinvigorate an audience to the character. And I hope to bring more of this theme - the theme of the orphan... I wanna keep exploring that theme of being fatherless, being motherless, searching for purpose and finding a purpose within himself, being a self-made man, I guess."
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 currently has an expected release date of May 2, 2014.

Andrew Garfield Wants a New Costume For Spider-Man 2

Andrew Garfield wants some costume adjustments when he makes the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man.
The 28-year-old actor - who plays Peter Parker and his superhero alter-ego in the movie reboot - admitted he had difficulties getting in and out of the costume which caused him some problems on set, especially when he needed to use the restroom.
"It's like you have to body-shoehorn yourself out of it. It looks good, but they didn't really consider that, the whole bodily-functions thing. But next time we will remember that I am human. We're going to make it easier for me to p**s. That's number one," he told MTV.
Andrew also revealed he had trouble seeing out of the crusader's mask which caused problems for him while filming stunts. Speaking about the mask, he said, "That was tough as well, but I don't think we can readjust that because the eyes have to be the eyes. That was hard, visibility was hard, especially for the bigger stunts because you need to know what you're doing."
The Amazing Spider-Man is set for release in July.
Spider-Man Sequel Greenlit

Although The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and his superhero alter-ego and Emma Stone as his first love Gwen Stacy won't hit cinemas until July 2012, film bosses are so confident it will be a success, they have already commissioned a sequel. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in May, 2014.
"It speaks volumes about our confidence in what we are seeing on the new film and our desire to move quickly on the next instalment," an insider said.
While Emma, 22 and 27-year-old Andrew are said to be contractually obliged to make a sequel, Denis Leary - who plays Captain Stacy, the father of Emma's character - has confirmed he will also return, although he refused to give any other details: "I guess they officially announced it. I don't know if I'm allowed to say. Every time you say something about this f***ing movie, they go crazy!"
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in May, 2014.
