Samuel L. Jackson was surprised to hear about Harrison Ford's injuries.
The 65-year-old actor was shocked by news that Harrison - who has reprised his role as Hans Solo in the sci-fi franchise - was crushed by a hydraulic door on set of the Star Wars: Episode VII last week, and insists the accident wouldn't have been his fault: "I'm sure it wasn't because he wanted to or it was something he was doing... I'm sure something went terribly awry if that happened because most times insurance companies don't like us doing those things!"

Carrie Fisher: ‘Star Wars’ Cast Looked a Little Melted

Carrie Fisher says that the original Star Wars cast looked "a little melted" when they met ahead of shooting on Episode VII.
The 57-year-old actress reprises her role as Princess Leia in the blockbuster sequel alongside alongside Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker who are also returning to the franchise. She admits it was reassuring to see that everyone's appearance had changed 37 years on from the original. When talking to an audience at the Hay Festival in Wales, she said, "We all look a little melted. It's good to see other melted people. And it is good to have us all in a room because it's unique. I mean, I don't suppose they have reunions for the Gone With The Wind gang."

Zac Efron in Talks for ‘Star Wars’

Zac Efron is in talks to appear in Star Wars: Episode VII.
The That Awkward Moment actor has met with movie bosses about a role in the new episode of the sci-fi franchise, which has recently been acquired by Disney. When asked if he'd take a part in the movie, he told MTV, "Yeah, I just went and met with them. So I don't know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars movies], but... who knows?"
Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams and actors linked to roles include Michael Fassbender, Michael B. Jordan (Efron's That Awkward Moment co-star), Saoirse Ronan, Jesse Plemons, Adam Driver and Hugo Weaving.
It has also been rumored many of the actors from the original trilogy - shot in the 70s and 80s - such as Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker could reprise their roles.

+ Jesse Plemons - famous for both his role as Breaking Bad's Todd and looking a lot like a younger Philip Seymour Hoffman - is apparently being called back for Star Wars: Episode VII auditions, although Disney/Lucasfilm is keeping mum about it.
+ No one has been cast yet and it's due to begin production this summer, but because it's a Quentin Tarantino project, you can guarantee that it will be full of awesomesauce. Especially considering the name of the film is officially The Hateful Eight (for those who don't know, it's a reference to the famous 1960 western The Magnificient Seven).
+ Marvel has released details on its upcoming Ultimates project, which will apparently not feature one single white guy (yay!) - both leading male superheroes will be of a non-white background. Also more yayness: the All-New Ultimates will see FOUR female superheroes on the team.
+ Despite the meteoric success she's had starring in the Martin Scorsese black comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, Australian actress Margot Robbie says that she wants to be cast in a Quentin Tarantino film next.
Florence Welch Set for Major ‘Star Wars’ Role?

Florence Welch is being considered for a leading role in the new Star Wars trilogy.
The 26-year-old pop diva could be turned into an "overnight" movie star with reports she is being lined up for a huge part in the next installment of the long-running science fiction saga. "We think Florence has the exact style we are looking for. She has done some acting but it was her singing on stage that initially caught the eye. Almost every actress in Hollywood wants a role in the new movies but we are keen to cast people who are unexpected. Florence is being considered for a major part that would turn her into an A-list actress overnight," a source said.
The Florence + The Machine singer would star close to her London home with the recent news the series would be filmed in the UK, with shooting due to start next year.
The movie - planned for a 2015 release - is also expected to see the return of original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.

Not many people pass up the opportunity to be involved in the Star Wars franchise. Apparently, Guillermo Del Toro is one of those people.
"We got one phone call to my agent saying, 'Is Guillermo interested?' And basically I have so much stuff already of my own, and I'm pursuing stuff that I'm generating already." The Pan's Labyrinth director said that he was flatter, but that he "just a phone call, it didn't go past that."
I guess we'll just have to settle for imagining what interesting creatures and sets Del Toro would have contributed to the upcoming films. Sigh.

George Lucas is Retiring

The Star Wars director is hoping to give up on Hollywood and make small scale movies at home for his own enjoyment.
"I'm moving away from the company, I'm moving away from all my businesses, I'm finishing all my obligations and I'm going to retire to my garage with my saw and hammer and build hobby movies. I've always wanted to make movies that were more experimental in nature, and not have to worry about them showing in movie theaters," he told Esquire.
George, 68, has made similar claims in January, and previously in 2005, when the final Star Wars film to date, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith was released. While many take the director's words with a pinch of salt - as he is widely expected to keep working as a producer on Hollywood films, including a possible new Indiana Jones movie - it is unlikely he will make any new Star Wars films, possibly after criticism he received over the three films in the franchise he made between 1999 and 2005 and his re-tweaking of elements in the original movies, shot in the 70s and 80s.
"Why would I make any more? When everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?" he said at the time.

Well, it looks like the guys had to restore their movie-going masculinity this weekend for taking their women to see The Vow before Valentine's Day: action thriller Safe House has taken the number one spot with $23.8 million from the romantic drama, which came close with $23.1 million.
Nicolas Cage's return as the dark, motorcycle-loving superhero in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance took the number three spot in its debut with $22.1 million. Dropping down one more spot from last week, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island took #4 with $19.9 million, and the action-packed romantic comedy This Means War rounded out the top 5 in its first week with $17.4 million.
