Dominic Monaghan Talks About the Lord of the Rings Prequels

While he’s quick to point out that The Hobbit is “not Lord of the Rings,” Dominic Monaghan told MTV that he is open to joining the upcoming adaptations.
Monaghan, who played Merry in the three LOTR films, said neither the fans nor his former coworkers should worry about their popular trilogy being diluted. “It’s being produced by Peter Jackson, who obviously made the first films, and his special-effects company are making it,” he explained. “It’s directed by Guillermo del Toro, who I think, outside of Peter Jackson, would be the number-one person to give this any amount of the tenderness that it deserves. Obviously, Ian McKellen’s going to be back for it, and Andy Serkis is going to be back for it.”

Orlando Bloom Set for New Trilogy
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Disney, Adaptation, Adventure, Casting, Upcoming Releases,
Although his relationship with Kate Bosworth flamed out, I don’t know that anyone can accuse Orlando Bloom of being afraid of commitment.
According to the New York Post, the actor is now set to star in in his third trilogy. Bloom will follow up his work in The Lord of the Rings and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchises with Prince of Persia. Orlando reportedly beat out rising stud Zac Efron to play the title character in this video game adaptation.
Interestingly enough, not only is Persia another Disney creation, it’s being produced by Bloom’s old Pirates boss: Jerry Bruckheimer. I guess the guy really likes familiarity!

If you were hoping to see Ian McKellen in the future adaptation of The Hobbit, you can rest comfortably. The actor is more than willing to participate in the project. Now it’s just a matter of him being asked.
On his personal website, the veteran of the Lord of the Rings trilogy expressed a desire to once again travel back in time and resurrect his Oscar-nominated role. And if Peter Jackson has any say, he will. But the two scheduled prequels are now in the hands of an entirely new director (Guillermo del Toro, Pan’s Labyrinth), and he has yet to give McKellen the greenlight.
