Johnny Knoxville Honored by Oscar Nomination

Johnny Knoxville is "honored" that Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa is nominated for an Oscar.
The 42-year-old actor - who co-wrote, produced and starred in the movie, where he plays an 86 year-old man - is proud of the fact his film could win one of the most esteemed awards in the movie business for Best Make-Up and Hairstyling.
"A film associated with Jackass [franchise, known for its wild and often puerile stunts] is nominated for an Oscar. It's a big deal. We're very honored. It also makes us giggle. You know what we do," he told USA Today.
In the movie Johnny plays Irving Zisman, who is on a journey across America with his eight year-old grandson, and their stunts and the trouble they got into was filmed in the real world, capturing the reactions of the general public.

Jared Leto Celebrates Oscar Nod with Vegan Pancakes

Jared Leto is celebrating his Oscar nomination with vegan pancakes.
The 42-year-old star is over the moon at receiving a Best Supporting Actor nod for his portrayal of HIV positive transsexual Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, however, his somewhat unremarkable plans to celebrate include going back to bed because the nominations - which were revealed at 5:38am Californian time today - were announced so early in the morning.
"I'm going back to bed and then wake up and make vegan pancakes. I thought I didn't get the nomination because I woke up and [mistakenly] thought it was getting light outside. But then I got a knock on the door from Emma Ludbrook, who produced [documentary film] Artifact with me," the newly-minted Oscar nominee quipped to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jared, who won a Golden Globe award for his performance on Sunday, will be in good company at the Oscars as his co-star Matthew McConaughey is up for Best Actor for his portrayal of AIDS victim Ron Woodroof.

+ After a Tumblr user in Italy questioned a 12 Years a Slave poster featuring Brad Pitt (whose role in the film - despite his producing credit - is minimal), Lionsgate released a statement claiming that the advertisements (another similar one featured Michael Fassbender, who is also a supporting actor) were unauthorized and not approved by the filmmakers.
+ Saving Mr. Banks director John Lee Hancock has been picked to rewrite the Magnificent Seven remake, which Tom Cruise was previously attached to work on. No word yet as to who is set to replace Cruise.
+ In doing promotional rounds for his latest film 47 Ronin, Keanu Reeves ruled out any participation from him in the upcoming Point Break remake.
+ Fortunately for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure fans, Reeves did state that he's open to doing a third film, which would follow Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.

Quentin Tarantino Feels Sorry for Ben Affleck

Quentin Tarantino feels sorry for Ben Affleck.
Both directors missed out on Best Director Oscar nominations on Thursday even though their movies Django Unchained and Argo picked up nods in other categories but Quentin thinks Ben's snub was worse than his.
Speaking at the Django Unchained premiere at London's Empire, Leicester Square, he told BANG Showbiz, "It would have been nice and everything but at the end of the day, I actually feel more sorry for Ben Affleck. He really deserved it and I think we all thought he was going to get it, so I feel really sorry for him."
While, Quentin is excited that his own movie received five Academy Award nominations, he doesn't believe it will win the night's biggest award, Best Picture: "It feels very lovely, it's nice to be invited to the party. It's been a good week. Five Oscar nominations today, five BAFTA nominations yesterday. I don't think it will win Best Picture. But if it did, I will take it for sure."

Kristen Wiig’s Surreal Oscar Experience

The 38-year-old actress and her writing partner Annie Mumolo were in contention for the Best Original Screenplay prize for Bridesmaids at this year's Academy Awards and though they didn't win, Kristen is delighted all her work on the comedy has paid off.
"To hear my name and Annie's announced, after five years of writing and working on the film - it was surreal. Professionally, the reception of this film has allowed me opportunities I could only dream of and I am incredibly grateful. It all feels like one big highlight."
Although she was pleased to be nominated for an award, Kristen says it is the response of fans of the movie that mean the most to her: "People have told me that the film made them laugh and cry and that the friendships really resonate with them. For me, there is no better compliment than that."
Anne Hathaway to Announce Oscar Nominations

Anne Hathaway will be up early next week to announce this year’s Oscar nominations.
The Devil Wears Prada star - who was nominated for her role in Rachel Getting Married last year - will join Academy President Tom Sherak for the official presentation.
Sherak and Hathaway will reveal the nominations in 10 of the 24 categories at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ press conference.
The event will take place Tuesday, February 2, from Beverly Hills.
Dark Knight Set to Re-Release in January

Warner Bros. now has plans to re-release Christopher Nolan’s record-breaking Batman sequel this January.
While I initially heard the news of The Dark Knight‘s re-release plan, I was excited to see that it may have a second chance to break Titanic‘s record; however, I was met with disappointment to discover that their motives linked to more materialistic goal named Oscar.
January is the prime voting season for the Academy Awards, and those determined folks at Warner Bros. don’t want anyone over there to forget about that impressive summer blockbuster of theirs.

Somewhere out there director Bill Condon is trying to wake up from a very bad dream…
Just less than 24 hours ago, I was just telling my cohort Neil Estep that Dreamgirls would be nominated for Best Picture. Thankfully, no money was involved. Apparently what I should have said was, “Given that the film won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy/Musical, I think it will probably earn the most nominations this year—but not be nominated for Best Picture.” My theory? The voters were so Dreamgirled-out by the time they got to that part of the ballot…
The biggest shocker of the day? Probably. But there were plenty others. And may I saw how excited I am! Here are some of the more notable additions/omissions from this morning:
- We have one less Leo DiCaprio nomination in the Best Actor Category (in Blood Diamond, out The Departed) making room for Ryan Gosling in Half Nelson. Woo hoo! Is it weird that I’m excited about this nomination…even though I’ve never seen the movie? But I’ve heard so much about it and have been waiting anxiously for the DVD to come out on on Feb. 13th. I just love it when underdogs are recognized. Could this be a surprise win ala Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry) or Adrian Brody (The Pianist)?
