The Case of Batman vs. Batman

The Dark Knight

Oh, the comedians are going to have a field day with this. In a just-strange-enough-to-work, headline-grabbing lawsuit, Batman will face off against the minds behind . But will the case ever see the inside of a courtroom?

Batman isn’t just a comic book character who first appeared on the scene in 1939 (then called the Bat-man), it’s also an oil-producing town in Turkey. Batman has been refining the fuel since 1955 and boasts Turkey’s oldest refinery. But now, the issue of name infringement has been raised.

Huseyin Kalkan, mayor of Batman, has legally filed suit against Christopher Nolan (who directed The Dark Knight) and Warner Bros. in hopes of gaining a cut of royalties from the film (sure, aren’t there enough to go around?).

This begs the questions, what the f are the grounds for the suit? Apparently, Kalkan’s suit says the film used the name of his city without permission. “There is only one Batman in the world.” Stated Mayor Kalkan. “The American producers used the name of our city without informing us.”

Take it up with Bob Kane, buddy. In collaboration with Bill Finger, Kane invented the Caped Crusader for DC Comics the same year Gone With the Wind made it into movie theaters. Kalkan further complains in the suit that his town suffers from a high suicide and crime rate because of the character Batman. What’s good for Gotham may not be so great for the world, it would seem.

In other news, Iron Man, Idaho is seeking reparations from Robert Downey, Jr. for trauma suffered during his extremely long movie marketing campaign, and Hancock, Washington is launching a letter-writing campaign against Will Smith in hopes of collecting a portion of DVD proceeds.

Okay…so I made up that last part, but don’t be surprised if all these things soon come to pass.

The Day After Tomorrow -James bond movies

I forgot about the Ironman.Yes i would keep it as a distant close to the Spiderman but the story of the Spiderman can't be beaten.

Hmm I'm going to have to go with spiderman as well... I was never a huge fan of the batman or superman movies, and didn't really get into the Fantastic Four stuff either (I just don't like superhero movies that much) -- but Spider-man was an exception. I thought the filming was amazing (especially the flying scenes.. how exactly did they film that part?) I do want to see Iron Man though, that one looks really good and was supposed to have gotten amazing reviews
What, in your opinion, is the best superhero movie? It is such a tough choice, but I would have to say Spider-Man. Spider-Man is such an exciting and entertaining movie that I am so glad they made a movie on it. There are other movies that are on top of the list, but if I had to choose only one, it would have to be Spider-Man. The special effects and the actors fit into Spider-Man so well that it was just a great and fantastic movie to watch.
You just said what i wanted to say.No super-hero cinema has such a good story like the Superman 1.People were bound to think, that superman is actually a human too who has hearts & emotions.Normally super heros don't have any emotions but Spiderman is an exceptional super hereo movie. :)

spiderman batman Ironman

I haven't watched Iron Man yet but I sure do want to. Iron Man was such a great superhero and I loved seeing him in Saturday Morning Cartoons such as when Iron Man was in Spider-Man: The Animated Series. I loved the X-Men movies too, they were very well done and I think all the fans, including myself, were a bit sad when they said it would be "The Last Stand." I think I would have loved to see Gambit or more characters of X-Men in the movies, but I did love how they got the Beast and Angel in the end. Truly amazing X-Men characters and all three X-Men movies were all very well done and entertaining.

I think there are many choices for a superhero movie, but it is the opinion of the person watching it. All the Spider-Man movies were very well done and so entertaining. I think the public is fascinated by superheroes because I think we all want to escape from reality and just have a blast. Also, a lot of people can relate to superheroes, such as Peter Parker, who is a student and goes through everything that a student goes through, such as crushes and hard times.

Yeah I loved the simpleness of Peter Parker. He just seemed lklike us ,an ordinary person. The storyline of the Spiderman movies are really awesome.I don't like seeing a superhero movie who doesn't relate to reality & looks artificial.

Ironman, he uses techonology while fighting crime!

Hah, Superman, SmallVille, and all that comes after. IT will always be THE superhero. And the original
