Proof That Apple Is Definitely Planning A Video Store
So, the icons pictured above have been found within iTunes 5. Note the ones labeled “Gift Video,” “Buy Video,” and “Add Video.” In addition, the phrase “Protected MPEG-4 video file” has been found within various text strings within the iTunes 5. Now, can we all agree that Apple has just a bit more up its sleeve in regards to what they want to do with their online media store? After all, Steve did say that this is supposed to be the year of HD.

An Online music store will be cool, i guess I’m thinking more of what Apple expects us to play them on. If you know what i’m saying *wink**wink*. I’m thinking the ipod video would be an almost simultanious release. Only speculating, but i hope it’s sometime before christmas.

J2Duncan,
I’m pretty sure apple wants you to use their “Online music store” to fill your iPod. I’m really not sure how well an Apple branded DAP will work in an already crowded market though.
I’m sorry. I just couldn’t resist.

There’re rumors that Apple will be selling music videos to start, but why watch a video on a tiny device meant to play music and display track info? Personally, I watch videos on a DVD player. I listen to iPod while traveling. Portable video? Too busy for that—I’d much prefer my PowerBook if I want to watch videos while traveling; and my tax bracket means I can afford most of these devices. No thanks.

Lets see I have been predicting this for almost 2 years. Things I think they will do after the Ipod video is released.
1.Video Rental Service, File has an expiration date and after file passes that date it doesnt play.
2.Movie Theater previews, when you head out you can have the weeks latest movie previews so you can watch them to decide what one you want to see on the way to the theater
3.Home movies, you can take your camcorder video and put your memmories on the portible device and share them with relatives.
4.TV recordings, if you have a TV tuner you can import TV shows or maybe apple sells a TV tuner product for windows to get shows on the Video Ipod
5.Video Podcasts - people will now do podcasts with video and it will be more popular then the audio podcasts in Itunes
6.If theres WIFI you will be able to recieve video wherever you go to view product info and also movie previews when your at the theater with some kinda apple WIFI service for businesses so your Ipod will sell you products or give you more info without needing sales associate assistance.
7.The ipod video will stream restaraunt / fast food ads or info about food and you will be able to interact with it.
8.You will be able to share your unencrypted MP4s with your friends over WIFI
I think the 2 things that will be announced are Ipod Video and also Bluetooth regular ipod.

Yeah, but the iTMS also sells e-books. That would easily explain that.

lol, any other harddrive player with a colorscreen on the market plays video. But I dont see why apple would wanna spend money actually developing features for thier players, when they can sell more, spending money on marketing… I mean, in the states, who cares about features? They just want a cool advertisement and they go buy the sucker… always pisses me off when a product beats other superior products because of audience ignorance (/misleading)... But hey, I live in Europe with Archos, iRiver and the like, so I’m happy
Video playback? Had it for a couple of years on my players, and now they’re all hype that iPod might actually do it? couldn’t laugh harder
Sorry for the pun, only slightly intended
