Gear Live Giveaway: Nintendo DS

Description Each week, Gear Live gives away awesome tech prizes courtesy of PrizeCube. The winner of last week’s contest was trudat, who walked away with a Robosapien.

Nintendo’s newest handheld console has been hard to find in retail stores lately, and is just getting back to the point where you can find it at any local electronics store - but why should you when you can get it for free? This week we are giving away a brand new Nintendo DS to one lucky Gear Live reader. What do you have to do to be eligible? Simply register for the site if you haven’t done so already, and leave us a comment telling us what your first Nintendo handheld console was and which game you spent the most man hours on. We will take the best ones, and choose a random winner. As always, big ups to PrizeCube for sponsoring our weekly contests. As always, this is open only to those who reside in the USA.

My first nintendo handheld console was the gameboy color and when i bought it i got Zelda: Links awakening along with it and playeed that game straight for the next 2 weeks. :D

My first nintendo handheld console was the gamebody color.  The game I played the most was Tony Hawks Pro Skater.  It was so much fun. I played that game as much as I could for like 2-3 weeks lol.

First Nintendo Handheld was the original GBA, and the game I played most was the first Super Mario World. Damn that was a good game ;D

My first Nintendo was a SameBoy Advance and the game was Pinball of the Dead.

My first Nintendo Handheld was the original Game Boy. The non-colored one. My first game was Tetris… Straight up OLD SCHOOL. lol.

my console was a gameboy color and my first game was pokemon =D

The first Nintendo handheld I owned was the Nintendo Gameboy. It was so awesome walking around and playing Tetris.

my first nintendo handheld was the original gameboy.  the game i played most on it was final fantasy legend.

Sadly enough I didn’t own any handheld until the GBA. The only two games I ever played on it were Super Mario World and Zelda: A Link to the Past. So total man hours would be whatever it took to beat both of those.

I just haven’t had time to play it anymore, seeing as how I’m always the one driving on trips. So the only game-playing I have time to do is at home, and then I’d rather be playing Xbox or PS2.

My first nintendo handheld was the original Gameboy. The game I spent the most man hours on, was Final Fantasy Adventure, which was released in 1991. This game was very interesting to me as it was unique for the final fantasy series. The gameplay was different from other final fantasy’s (there weren’t that many around at that time) so it appealed to me. Needless to say I spent many hours on that game, but enjoyed every moment of it.

My first handheld was the original GameBoy, I used to carry around that blocky beast everywhere I went with two sets of extra batteries. The one game I played more than any other was The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, to this day it’s still my favorite Zelda game, i’ll never forget the weeks I spent trying to beat the game without losing a life, fighting the bosses, getting the L-2 Sword, ahh the memories.

My first nintendo console was the Nintendo 64 (I actually got a regular NES and SNES after that :p) Anways, I rented it from a local video store and got Starfox. Me, my brother and our friends played 4 player co-op for hours! Good times…

My first handheld Nintendo was the original gameboy. It was huge and grey. I always played games on it at school, traveling, and at home. Almost everywhere. I played a lot of games on it. I played Kirby’s Adventure, RC Racing Pro AM, and Tetris the most. I would have to say that I played Kirby’s Adventure the most out of all the games I had. I must say that I did beat the game at least 10 times…

^^^^ ME, I wasn’t logged in.

Yeah, My first handheld was the original grey nitendo.  I remember it being really big and bulky.  Compared to the Nitendo Ds the original nitendo handheld had no back light, i dont think you could play against another person, and you always had to run around collecting bateries because you could not recharge it.  I used to play tetris on it and actually its the only game i can remember plaing.  It was an addicting game.

First handheld was the fat grey gameboy. had only two games for it tho. tetris and super mario land. Spent most of my time playing super mario land.

first one was the original gameboy with the green/black screen….i think i sprained my thumb from playing tetris for so long. smile

My first gameboy was the Grey one with the green screen, the original one from like 1989.  Man I begged for that thing and finally my mom bought it for me one christmas when I was 5.  The first game I got with it was Super Mario Land, but the game I spent the most time playing was Batman: The Animated Series by Konami.

Boy i remember my first nintendo handheld. It was a gameboy color when i was about 7 or 8 and i loved it. the only game i would play was pokemon BLUE EDITION!!! i loved that game i played it hours on end… the longest i ever played that game nonstop was from 8am - 6pm i think when i went up north to my cottage. i love you gameboy color :D!

My first nintendo was gameboy color. I loved Zelda. It was really hard, but I battled through it.

my first nintendo handheld console? it was a mario game & watch… does it count? i loved that game. it was single screen and you had to jump across all these platforms to finally get to the princess. because it was a game and watch of course it was the only game i could play on it, but no matter raspberry i wasn’t on the handheld scene much after that but i did get a gameboy colour (just in case the game & watch doesn’t count) which i spent most of my days playing the old original gameboy games so i could catch up, metroid 2 was one of my favorites and the one i spent most of my hours on… i think i want to marry Samus.

My first gameboy was a gameboy pocket. I got it around ‘98 or so and promptly played pokemon for I don’t know 200 hours or something. Then the new Gold and Silver ones came out so I got the color. There went another 200 hours.

My first handheld anything was a regular gameboy.  I was so pumped when I got it that I told all of my friends.  I took it to school the day after hoping that I could show it off for everyone.  I had the original Mario video game and I played it for about 8 hours the first day.  The next day when I took it to school, it got stolen.  I was so pissed, and so was my mom, that she never bought me another handheld syste (even to this date!).

Hopefully this won’t happen if I win this DS!

My first game boy handheld was the Original Gamboy. The huge gray one with the black and yellow screen. mine was pimped too my mom bought me the magnifying screen so i could see the screen bigger and i had the battery pack for it. Because i was like 6 my mom didnt want me to lose it so i had my name in permanet marker barley readable across the back. I had the mario island game that i use to play a lot. Only 4 worlds nut i could never beat the final boss. At the end of every stage you had the option to go down the bottom and normally beat the level or jump up on to the top and and get a bonus round level. I still have that thing laying around probably worth something on ebay now.

My first Nintendo Hand Held was Gameboy color , it was a normal hot summer day, I was watching TV, and my Dad said “lets go”, I was wondering where we were going, and I asked, dad said “you will see”, so I got in the Car, and talked with my dad while we were driving , we stopped at Wal-Mart, and I don’t know where my dad was going, I followed him of course, and then we stopped I saw boxes of Gameboy Colors back of the register(that’s where they kept gameboy colors, so no one steals everything),My dad said “go on, pick something"I was puzzled why??, why would my dad buy a gameboy color??I asked and he said “school starts next week, I want you to do your best from now on” I almost had tears coming out of my eyes, wondering how I have a great dad, Now I am 21 years old, I am in University Of Virginia, I still keep my Gameboy color that my dad bought me on my desk, playing Super Mario smile

^^^ME, my email is DumstrD@aol.com, The register doesnt work!!

my first nintendo handheld was the original gameboy and i would always play mario land. good times.

My first Nintendo handheld was the gameboy advace, and I spent tons of time with Mario Kart

My first nintendo handheld console was the original Gameboy and that thing was huge!! I Spent hours playing Super Mario.

Wow this brought back many old memories with that huge Gameboy but i never knew what happened to that thing.

My first nintendo handheld was a Gameboy Color.  I picked it up used at a pawn shop.  Not exactly a game(well, it had some minigames on it), I picked up the Gameboy Camera with it for cheap.  I spent so many hours creating animations on it, and playing the space shooter minigame.

My first Nintendo handheld was sort of a precursor to the DS. It was the dual screen Donkey Kong LCD game. That monkey wasn’t always that happy-go-lucky monkey we all know and love for his recent games… no.. He was EVIL! What kind of animal would take a woman and try to keep her for their own? Damn dirty monkeys that’s who! It ran on battery cells which allowed me to play for hours upon end. But because it was only a one player game I was forced to play with myself for hours. Dodging barrels, climbing ladders, all in a effort to save the princess. Those were the days!

My first nintendo handheld was the original gameboy…and I can blame Tetris for many sleepless nights and hand cramps.  I can still hear the tinny music sometimes in my head!

First handheld Nintendo game I owned was a beat up old gameboy and I had to get Zelda Links Awakening with it. That game was classic.  Everyone remembers charging up to beat up the guards at the castle and gettting those instruments to awaken that damn fish.  But the single Nintendo game I spent the most time on was TECMO SUPER BOWL. I still play it today.  NO ONE CAN STOP BO JACKSON! NO ONE!

The original game boy baby! I got it when i was 6, and my dad bought it for me when he barely had enough money to feed our family. I still don’t know how he got enough $ to buy it, but he did, and bought me Tetris with it. Thats the only game i played, cause we couldnt afford any more.

Gameboy Pocket. The games i spent the most time playing where the original pokemon( blue and red) I was amazed how they made something so bulky little. smile

My first portable console was the original Gameboy. The game I played most was definitely the infamous TETRIS! I played hours and hours on end on road trips and such. I even beat the game and saw the rocketship go off!

hmm… just take a look in my bathroom and you’d see that the original Gameboy is by far my favorite and most used handheld. I don’t know how many Tetris high scores I’ve posted while sitting on my throne..  I have noticed though that visitors tend to pick the video poker handheld. I guess the old beated look of my trusty gameboy doesn’t appeal interesting no more… no fretting.. I got nothing but love for it.. smile

My first handheld was the GameBoy Pocket.  And my first game was Pokemon Yellow.  My friends and I used to play that game ALL the time before and after school.  We played it so much that our Moms asked us if we were dealing drugs because we always wanted to go early to school and stay late. smile

The first handheld i had was the Original Game Boy, that with the light adapter that magnified the whole screen, (if u had one u know what im talking about) I was amazed. The game I had most man hours logged on would have to be Pokemon Blue, now that game had good replay value:exclaim:  (the first Kirby game comes close tho)

my 1st and only was a Sega Gamegear.  I love the star wars game and also one of the sonics.  i would still use it today if it wasnt broken :(

The first portable console I ever bought was the original black and white Game Boy.  The first game I ever logged serious hours into was Super Mario Land.  The game played PERFECTLY, just like the NES original that preceded it.  I think that solidified Nintendo in the portable gaming market.  The game played, sounded, and looked nearly just like Super Mario Bros.  Perfect Mario gameplay on the go, what more could a gamer ask for?

My first handheld console was the Gameboy Color. The first game I enjoyed playing with it was Ms. Pac Man. Thinking back, I am reminded of the advantages of this device versus sitting at an old bowling alley. I can remember trying to breathe easy (amongst all the smoke and loud music) while sitting at a table top arcade machine playing Ms. Pac Man.  With each invention that Nintendo creates, life for gamers and techno gurus is getting easier and easier.

My first nintendo handled as the original gameboy.  I got it for a birthday present from my grandparents.  It came with tetris, which I spent the most time on.

Oops please delete my previous post,  I thought we were supposed to simply state what our first handheld was.

Anyways, I first played my friends Gameboy Advance while on the team bus on the way back from a baseball game. The game I played was Mario Kart and I thought it was so awesome, it looked almost like the N64 version.  My friend let me borrow it a couple days and I was hooked. The day I had to give it back I went and bought my own. That was a couple years ago and I’m still using it, great product.

My first one was GBA. And I used to love playing the Pokemon games on it, i used to take it to school and play it during lunch, I used to walk around the house playing it…it was so addicting. The obsession was well worth the detentions I got in school for playing it there. :D

Oh wow…

My first handheld device was the Nintendo Gameboy Color. I got it because we were moving to Washington from Chicago. About a 7 day trip including staying at hotels and resturaunts. Well me and my brother got one. We got some Bugs Bunny game and a racing game. Well I think it’s safe to say that that is all we did in the car. The Bugs Bunny game was so good but it didn’t save and every level had a password. So my brother and I would constantly write down passwords on paper. Then when we couldn’t find the password we would have to search through the “password pile.”

Also when we got there and settled down we got pokemon red. Mind you I’m in 4th grade at the time. So I would like wait till everyone is alseep and would “catch ‘em all!” I spent so much time playing pokemon red it was insane. I would also waste me time with trying to find all secrets. And whenever I saw mew I would be in awe…lol

Then my cousin gave me the original Super Mario. I was obsessed. I would play it constantly. And besides the only reason anyone plays that game is for the ‘effing orgasmic ending music. I mean holy crap. That music is so cool. Rahhhha.d..fas.fd.a….i think I’m gonna go find a MIDI of that song….No one can deny how great that ending song is. I mean sure the whole point of the game is to reunite Mario and Peach so they can screw all night. But the ending music is like….*gasm*

Well anyway the games I probably played the most are Pokemon Red and the original Super Mario on the GBoy color.

A zelda watch that I brought with me to school all the time (as well as the bathroom, hehe).

The game I spent the most time on was/is Motocross Madness for the original GB.  Oh man, such simple play mechanics but difficult at the same time.

please let me win grin

My first Nintendo Handheld was the Gameboy Pocket, I loved it and thought it was the coolest little gagdet.  Some people though the gameboy itself was cool, but When I had the smaller version I felt like a king.  I remember buying bomberman, monopoly, and an d a soccer game for it.  To this day I still have the Silver Gameboy Pocket!

Supercom.

I never had a handheld but i had a girlfriend that had an original gameboy and the only game she had was Tetris.  I would spend all my time on the gameboy while she was in the bathroom getting ready for our dates.  She was hot and on top of that she loved her gameboy and tetris.

My first Nintendo Handheld was the big Gameboy.  The original one.  I played tetris all the time (120 lines was my record and then the damn thing froze on me).  Then, I got pokemon and played that game for a while.  I no longer have the console anymore as someone stole it :( I still have tetris though smile
